Will My Daughter Face Issues When Cancelling Her ED Visa Before Leaving Thailand?
Hello and thank you for your amazing job with this page.
ED visa question: my daughter is 13 and she holds an ED visa extension valid till feb 2021. We are leaving the country at the end of June therefore I’ll cancel her visa. School will close on June 26, flight is booked on the same day but most likely postponed by few days.
In this case will she have issues ?
How in advance can I go to cancel the visa at CW?
Thank you 🙏

Answer summary
The user inquired about the process of cancelling their daughter's ED visa extension, which is valid until February 2021, as they are leaving Thailand at the end of June. They wanted to know if there would be any issues due to possible flight delays and how far in advance they could cancel the visa. A comment indicated that, under the amnesty provisions due to COVID-19, once the extension is cancelled, she would be covered under amnesty until the end of July 2020, and children under 15 do not face fines for overstaying.

In pre-COVID-19 days, she has until 11:59pm the same day from the time the extension of stay is cancelled to the time she needs to leave. However, with the amnesty, once her extension of stay is cancelled, she is automatically on amnesty and can stay no later then July 31, 2020.
You can cancel her extension of stay at any time and put her on amnesty, and then fly out.
For children under 15, there is no fines or other penalties for being on overstay during pre-COVID-19 days anyway.
