Hello I got a cancellation letter for my ED visa this week from my school dated for the 10th this Friday, for when I plan to go to Mae Sai border for the day, my tutor told me it's best to go to immigration in Chiang Mai this week to cancel the visa there ready, but he said it's also possible to bring the letter to Mae Sai immigration and do there when crossing too

I planned to go to immigration in Chiang Mai tomorrow but I realise it is closed because of a royal holiday :/ I am worried now as I leave at 8am on Friday to go to Mae Sai will I have problems that I didn't cancel?

Seeing as
@Gráinne *******
said she's at the immigration office now canceling her extension I'd say she's not gonna have any more issues bouncing out and back in OR need any more advice from anyone on here.

Thanx all for the advice (y)

You can go to Mae sai no problems at all and cross it’s when you go to get a new visa that the problems occur which happened to me and it took 2 days to sort out at immigration so do everything by the book and it will make you life better in the long run , I also bought my letter to don Muang airport they took the letter but didn’t cancel it.

it's not getting a new visa that is the problem :/ Thai consulates in other countries will sell a her a visa even if she hasn't canceled that extension, it's once they're back INSIDE the country and go to extend the new visa without having canceled the old extension <- that's where you get the problems and the fines :O

There are reports that people were denied exiting the country because they didn't cancel their ED visa extension BEFORE they showed up at the border. :O

You should have went to the immigration office as soon as you got that letter, they would have canceled your extension, and given you a new stamp until the 10th (the date on the letter).

It's anyone's guess IF you're gonna be allowed to bounce out on an ED visa extension that you didn't cancel with just the letter from the school.

Good Luck,

You could post your question in a Chiang Mai group and see what people say
