Hello, I need some advice please, myself and my 10 year old daughter has a ED and NO visa that runs out on 20th August, I'm going back to Christmas in December and will renew both my NO visa and her ED visa then. But in the mean time I will do a visa run and get my last 3 months till November and than an extension till we leave,my question is what can I do for my daughter? Does she need to do a visa run or can I go to the immigration office and get and extension for her? I know she doesn't need to do a Visa run until she is 14? Any advise would be gratefully received πŸ™‚ she has been invited to go ok holiday with friend and I don't want a problem at the boarder?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on how to manage their daughter's ED visa situation as it is set to expire. They plan to do a visa run for themselves but are uncertain if their daughter needs to do the same at her age, as she is only ten. Commenters clarify that while children do need visas, there may not be penalties for overstaying until they reach a certain age. They suggest visiting the immigration office for a visa extension based on her school enrollment and mention the option of a border-bounce every 90 days to maintain her visa status.

My boarder bounce leaves at 4am and is a full day of travelling? Surely there must be another way rather than taking her?

ok thank you so much for your help.

let her overstay, and IF that trip she's going on is after the 21st of August <- the day that visa expires, all she'll get when she re-enters is a 30 day visa exempt stamp.

Even though she's been on overstay since the 20th of July, and she'll get an overstay stamp in her passport, she won't be fined because she's too young.

I'd say take her on a border-bounce before the 21st of August, she'll get another 90 day admitted until stamp. (until about 18 Nov or so)..

Then you can get her a re-entry permit for 1000baht at the immigration office so she can exit and re-enter the country and still get stamped in for the remainder of the 90 days she got

So what do you think I need to do now?
Tod *********
Yep that notation opposite the the 90 day stamp in the new passport says she switched passports and the visa is in the old one.

That's still a visa that you bounce in and out every 90 days.
Tod *********
That visa is the same as yours other than the ED class. She'd have to border bounce every 90 days to get another 90 day stamp.
Tod *********
She DOES need to, but there is no overstay fines or penalties for kids

Believe me she's technically on overstay since July 20th.

You'll note that she was stamped in for ONLY 90 days

I haven't done the visa run as I was told she wouldn't need to do this as she was only 10?
Tod *********
You need to post a picture of the visa itself in her passport, because if it's a year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type ED, she'd only get stamped in for 90 days when she arrived on it, and then every 90 days she'd border bounce like you do on your Non-O.

We normally just leave for a holiday in the uk and she gets stamped out...this is the first time with a ED visa, this is why I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.

@Tod ********
sorry its multi entry
Tod *********
AFAIK; there is no year long, Non-ED visa :/ There's a single entry good for 90 days and a multi-entry good for 90 days at a time where you bounce in and out of the country like you are on your non-O

@T**
not yet I was wandering what the procedure was? Do I need to apply for a new visa?
Tod *********
So you meant you already did get an extension of the Non-ED visa for her right?
Tod *********
Does she have a 90 day single entry ED visa?
Tod *********
The school she's enrolled in should be able to provide documentation that you take to the immigration office and get an extension of stay for her based on being in school.

Children also need a Visa, but till the age of 16 there is no financial penalty for overstay, till the age of 18 no black list. I think a NO visa means Non-O, you can only Extend if you fullfil all the requirements of Immigration depending where the visa is based on. This Extension of Stay is normally 1 year.

Do you mean mine or my daughters to extend, I'm not worried about my Non O, more the fact is she leaves the country to go on holiday will she need a visa to get back in? Or can I simply extend her visa at immigration?
