I'm currently on a 3mth only visa from the US & recently received my Thai national passport in BKK.
What's the best way to stay longer if I should decide after my 3mths is up?
Leave the country & enter as a Thai national? Where's the quickest boarder run & back? Costs?
If I choose to stay longer, does that effect my entry back to the US with my US passport?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster has a 3-month tourist visa from the US and recently acquired a Thai passport. They seek advice on extending their stay in Thailand after the visa expires. Responses from the community clarify that with a Thai passport, they can remain in Thailand indefinitely. It's recommended to leave Thailand using the US passport and re-enter with the Thai passport to avoid visa issues. The advice emphasizes the importance of using the same passport for entry and exit to prevent complications.
Remember, you can only "switch" passports (dual citizenship, dual passports) by Air
NOT via Land Borders as the immigration officers of Both countries on both sides of the Land Borders are going to require both Exit and Entry Stamps inside the same passport
so, fly out of Thailand on your current passport (U.S. Passport), then fly back into Thailand on your Thai Passport
Dca Dca after reading the article, I do NOT need to leave when my 90 days are up, correct? Am I reading this right? I just simply show my Thai ID & passport, when I leave BKK, correct?
You should clarify with the immigration office and not here on FB .....since u already have a thai passport u are now thai and can stay here forever without any issues....it would be better for u to use your US passport while entering the US
You’re Thai you can stay here forever if you want it’s your country
It won’t affect anything in the USA since that’s your country as well
Stay as long as you want in either country or stay out of either country as long as you want
I don’t think you have to do a border run since you’re a citizen and when you leave you depart Thailand on your Thai passport and enter the USA with your USA passport
If you now have a Thai passport, you can go to your immigration office and apply for a 1-year Thai Citizen extension. You can do that forever. But next time you leave it'll be much better to use your Thai passport when you return, that way you don't need to worry about visas.
What you do here has nothing to do with your entry to the US.
She did not enter Thailand as a Thai. She entered with a foreign passport. So she is in Thailand as a foreigner. Until she leaves and enters with her Thai passport, that is how she will be seen by immigration.
IMO (and I could be wrong) She is ALWAYS a Thai citizen - assuming she was born here - the passport is just an identity and travel document. Surely she could have entered Thailand with an expired passport?.....or have I missed something.
Some people were born overseas and can't gather the correct proof to claim their citizenship until they're already in Thailand. But that doesn't change the fact that once someone enters on a specific passport, that's how they are seen by immigration until they exit and enter with a different passport.
that is the only circumstance I can think of that applies to this situation. IMO it is more about the airlines checking her in than it is about Immigration - personally, I don't think she would have an issue exiting on her Thai passport..... would it flag her entry on a US passport? I don't know.
