Should I get a Covid extension instead of traveling to KL for a new TR visa?

I entered on a TR and have now used my 60+30, was planning a trip to KL to get another TR.

My question is - based on people’s experience do you think getting the covid stamp instead of going out will tarnish my record, since they are a bit stricter at immigration now?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is considering whether to apply for a Covid extension instead of traveling to Kuala Lumpur for a new tourist visa (TR) after exhausting their current TR visa duration. Responses from the community suggest that obtaining a Covid extension won't negatively impact their immigration record, and in some cases, it may be more favorable than repeatedly applying for back-to-back tourist visas.

I think you're better off with a covid extension than back to back tourist visas to be honest.

There would be no “tarnishing”. People have been here for over two years on that extension. A few have had issues leaving and then immediately trying to return - which is like a red flag to a bull for an immigration officer. Having one covid extension won’t be an issue - unless you are trying to find ways to stay long term in Thailand without the correct visa.

just been extended until August 24th as the last date to apply. Whether that will be the final one is anyones guess.
