My boyfriend has just received his U.S. passport and will be flying to Bangkok, Thailand in September 2025,but he was convicted of felony which he served time for and is now off parole. My question is will he be allowed entry in to Thailand and are there any further documents he would need to make his entry here in Thailand go smoothly?
Once he has arrived Thailand we are hoping to get married and make his stay here long term.
I am a Thai citizen my boyfriend is ( US citizen)
Please advise any comments and information will be most helpful.
Thanks You
TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the entry eligibility of a U.S. citizen with a past felony conviction into Thailand. Multiple responses suggest that Thailand does not typically conduct background checks for entry, indicating that past felonies in the U.S. may not be a barrier. There are informal comments supporting the opinion that entering Thailand should not pose any problem. However, opinions vary on the complexities of obtaining a marriage visa for a long-term stay following the marriage, with suggestions that it may be straightforward in terms of getting married, but could involve documentation hurdles for long-term residency.
