TLDR : Answer Summary
A friend's ability to enter Thailand with a felony record from 10 years ago depends on various factors such as the nature of the offense and whether it has been communicated to Thai authorities. Many commenters suggest that after this long, it is unlikely to cause issues unless the felony was particularly severe. Travelers should ensure they have a valid passport and may consider consulting a Thai lawyer for specific inquiries on entry restrictions.

What is the felony?

If they are not applying for a visa that requires a police check there will not be an issue travelling to Thailand

They let anyone in

Depends on the nature/type of the criminal offence and whether either the [US] authorities have communicated it to the Thai authorities or the [US] Embassy may notify them.

As it was 10 years ago, it is likely that neither the Thai authorities nor the [US] authorities shall consider you a danger to the Kingdom.

Immigration officers check your travel documents, luggage and ask you questions about you and your reason for visiting. If you are "flagged on their database" then they shall make further enquiries. There is no form to request disclosure.

You can engage a Thai lawyer to make enquiries with the Thai Immigration for any Prohibitions or Restrictions.

In practice, 10 years is a long-time! Unless the criminal offence was serious and could pose a threat to the good morals and order of Thai society

what do they ask in customs? Is there a custom forms sheet of paper that you fill out before you enter the country? Just don’t want my friend to go and be sent back home.
