TLDR : Answer Summary
A user urgently seeks help after their husband, a Mexican citizen with a U.S. permanent residency, was denied entry into Thailand. Comments suggest that he requires a visa due to his nationality, as being a U.S. permanent resident does not exempt him from needing a visa to enter Thailand. It is recommended that they go to the Thai consulate in Hong Kong to apply for the necessary visa, and they discuss concerns about whether previous entry denial will affect re-entry. Other participants emphasize the importance of clarifying visa requirements and obtaining proper documentation before travel.

Get a visa from the Thai embassy/consulate in Hong Kong. No problem.

he wasn't even stamped IN to thailand, they just plain and simple denied him entry to the country. He'll be fine comin' into the country on a valid visa.

Get your extra passport/ application photos taken today, so you're ready for tomorrow. Remember to dress nicely and smile tomorrow during the application process. You don't have to, but it can help alot. Good luck.

Yea, they will let him in. Getting a tourist visa shouldnt be a problem at all... Going to take a couple of days though.

Do you thing they will allow him to enter back to Thailand if immigration already kind of scand his iMEXICO passport?

How can anyone think that one country can issue a visa for another.
Nina *********
This actually works for Taiwan! If u hold usa visa they u can apply for something that allows u to use ur usa visa to enter Taiwan. My husband is thai and he did this. But this is the only country I know that does this.

@Biff ******

@Tod ********
yes, my thoughts exactly, but....have a great Sunday

they were thinking that because they held permanent residence in the US that they were under US visa rules when entering thailand.
Tod *********
Unfortunately, just because your husband holds permanent residence status in the US if he tried to enter thailand on his mexican passport without a visa he'd be denied entry.

He needs to BUY a visa from a thai consulate BEFORE comin' here. If you're being sent back to Hong Kong, go to the thai consulate there and get a visa

Contact the US embassy to see what they say

the old "Green Cards" do not expire only the new ones
David **********
OK fair enough. That would be the issue then I guess, thanks for the education again 😊
Tod *********
@Da***
, whether he holds a valid green card or not is totally irrelevant :/

If he doesn't hold a US passport and he tries to enter thailand on his Mexican one he'd be denied entry because mexican nationals need a visa before they come here.

They can't get a visa exempt entry and they can't buy a visa on arrival.
David **********
He may be on the old green card, the new card is valid for 10 years, the old one may have expired or have less than 6 months validity on it. I only know this as my friend in New York had similar issues when travelling to Asia, he had 4 months on his green card and this was only last year.

@Tod ********
the embassy is useless for all citizens and green card holders...but it’s just a feel good option they can use even though it’s completely useless...
Tod *********
@Jeremy *******
they can indeed BUT the US consulate is not gonna help them in the least entering thailand :/

If he's got a mexican passport they need a visa before they come here.
Jeremy ********
@Tod ********
US Green Card Holder, they can use the US Embassy
Tod *********
He's NOT an american citizen :/
Ahsan ******
If your husband is a Mexican citizens but he have permenant resident In U.S.A so they should let you in Thailand but if your husband U.S.A resident is expired then they will send you back ask them reason.
Tod *********
being a permanent resident int the US is NOT the same as being a naturalized US citizen with a US passport. :/
