TLDR : Answer Summary
The main concern raised in the discussion is whether changing to a DTV (Digital Nomad) visa will lead to the closure of an existing Bangkok Bank account. Responses vary, with some users suggesting that account closures depend on the individual branch manager and that some accounts remain open despite the change in visa. There are indications that accounts opened with the help of agents may face higher risks of closure. Users also emphasize having valid documentation, such as a residence certificate and a Thai SIM card, to help maintain the account.

The issue won't be the DTV, much more likely to be the fact you used an agent. If you have a valid thai sim in your name go to the bank with a residence certificate and your passport and verify your account

I heard most of the accounts being shut down were ones created with the help of agents. Also rules are not the same for all. Since im married to a thai, i can open a bank account by just providing additional documentation even though I am on DTV per the bank we spoke with yesterday.

Changed to DTV last year.

Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn still alive. I will only transfer as much as necessary, no confidence.

Banks outside Thailand make business.

What has Apple Pay to do with it?

@Peter *******
you will understand if suddenly you card doesn’t work anymore and the subscriptions stop. The moment they block your card In pattaya or where ever, you get a notification straight from Apple Pay. How cool

@Jeremy ********
go on then. Explain how they would know he has changed visa?
Thai ************************************************
@Ray ****
they may invite you to visit the branch and ask for a visa update once it expires. If you’re unable to come or prove your long stay, they most likely will close your account. Bangkok bank doesn’t want tourist clients due to the internal problems they had. If you’re in a long-term visa such as retirement or marry, they won’t make you problems.

They won't even know you have changed

Depends on your branch manager, speak to your bank. Some DTVERS have kept accounts open, it just depends on your bank.
