Can I update my phone number and bank card at Bangkok Bank with a DTV visa?

Has anyone updated their phone number or obtained a new bank card at Bangkok Bank while on a DTV since they tightened up all the rules? I need to update information for an old account over 5 years old but wondering if they will close my account once they see my DTV visa. Location: Chiang Mai.

UPDATE: updating with BB was smooth and easy for phone number and new card. No questions about DTV.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Users have shared mixed experiences regarding updating their bank details with Bangkok Bank while on a DTV visa. Some reported that updating their phone number and getting new bank cards was problem-free, while others experienced resistance or restrictions based on their visa status. Overall, it appears that while older accounts are generally safe, specific requirements might apply depending on the bank's policies and the individual's visa situation.

Yes, 5 min in with a bunch of documents. No issue. Mine was also opened on DTV

Go in and try to do it. If they ask for something like a work permit or another requirement, tell them you'll bring it next time and don't return. From what I've heard they're not closing accounts unless you confirm to them that you no longer have the required documents to open an account.

Mine was not closed, they just told me I can't open any new accounts like term deposits. The account was opened 8 years ago with a proper O-A visa. I guess like everything in Thailand the branches apply rules with variations. It would help if you have a Thai known by them to assist you.

I had to go in to Bangkok Bank a month or so ago to set up the facial recognition and update my phone number as I got a new phone. I'm on a tourist visa and no questions was asked. I've had the account around 10 years. For information, this was at the Bangkok Bank branch in Central Festival, Chaing Mai

But as we know in Thailand ones experience can differ from another. Let us know how you get on if you do go into the bank to get things sorted.

I have maintained bank accounts with both Krungthai Bank and Bangkok Bank for approximately 12 years. Both accounts were originally opened on visa exemption and remain active. I have also updated my information with the banks several times and travel to Thailand both with visas and on visa exemption.

Recently I purchased a new phone and visited the bank to update the mobile banking application. The bank declined to assist because I had entered Thailand on visa exemption on that trip. I tried several branches and received the same response. They advised that if I returned on a Non O visa they would be able to assist.

No, I managed to update the Bangkok Bank app myself as I have face recognising in this bank, but Krungthai was not possible. They didn’t close my account but said everything has become more strict now and they couldn’t give me a new ATM-card in the end of this year either unless I had a Non O visa. If I’m told to update all the information in the bank again I’m afraid they would freeze it totally. Next time I’ll enter on a Non O anyway.

If you have not used your account in a long time (around a year or so) banks automatically close the account

Older accounts are the most likely to be safe.
