Will immigration issue a problem with my flight return date exceeding the 180-day limit for my DTV visa?

Hi

I stupidly booked a flight a bit beyond the 6 month entry allowance for a dtv, rushed it last minute booking

Will immigration have an issue with boarding pass being past 180 day entry ?

If so what can I do I rang Thai consulate in Australia no help

Changing flight at this stage is expensive, thought of booking a random flight to say Vietnam for part way through my trip, not sure if that’s suffice

Or because I have plenty funds and such a long time to change things immigration will be fine ?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user booked a flight return beyond the 180-day limit of their DTV visa and is concerned about immigration. While many responses suggest that there should not be an issue with entering Thailand on the DTV as long as the flight is within the visa's duration, others recommend booking a short, inexpensive onward flight or using a service for a temporary flight confirmation to avoid potential questioning by the airline. Overall, most community members believe that having a DTV visa should suffice for entry despite the flight dates.

You’ll be fine. I would book a cheap flight to some city in Vietnam or KL just in case. They’re pretty cheap

It shouldnt matter, I didnt even have a return ticket booked, you can just do another border run before then.

I removed the return date from dac so should be all good, as yeah so much time on this visa shouldn’t be a problem now

Do people not realise you can extend the 180 days in Thailand? I'd just say I'm going to do that?
Wannikea *********
Anonymous participant 166 your extension application is also put under consideration and then you need to return to get your final stamp, and you must exit Thailand after 360 days regardless.
Anna *********
Anonymous participant 166 you can but it’s very document heavy as you have to reprove everything Easier to leave and return

DTV doesn't require a return flight.

Sorry to confuse, wrote this quickly as so much to do, last minute plans

I leave for Thailand tomorrow, my flight back was 193 days not 180, so I was worried immigration would expect a return flight no more than 180 days

I know once enter Thailand can border hop etc to extend, but main concern is immigration letting me enter Thailand

with DTV you should be fine even with no return ticket

most likely you will be questioned by the airline, not Immigration. You could book a flight via onwardtickets or some similar service for a small fee (which is just a booking not a real ticket), or book a more expensive ticket but fully refundable (you might get the refund in a few weeks time though).

This is what people typically do when they need to show their tickets out of Thailand but they haven't made any plans yet.

ok thanks will look into this

it's the airline that looks at return flights before they let you board. Given that you have a visa for 180 days they probably won't even look at your return ticket dates

Your question is confusing ??? So you have a DTV and you stayed in Thailand 180 days and have gone to Australia where you have stayed more than 180 day. Now you want to return to Thailand and get a new 180 day stamp. That's how it sounds to me.

Your DTV is for 5 years up to 180 day stay at a time. You must leave or apply for an extension to reset the 180 days. But you can go out and stay out as long as you want same day return or as long as you want. When you return you get a new 180 day stamp. It sounds like you have no issue you just think you have

It doesn't matter. You can do a border run anytime before that, or extend in country (the latter not really recommended, tho).
Anna *********
I’m confused Do you mean entry or exit into Thailand?

You can arrive into Thailand any time within the five years of your DTV Visa and if you’re talking about departing Thailand, after your first six months you will get an overstay fine

@Anna ********
overstay is a really bad idea

you don't need any return flight, nobody cares

@John *********
I didn’t say it was a good idea just what would happen

yeah man just leave it blank you will be fine 👌

Also I see some other guy carrying on about return flights with the airline asking for proof.

I work in Indonesia and I’ve entered into Thailand on a DTV 12 times since October (with an Aussie passport) and I’ve not been asked once 🫡👌
