On a METV Visa - I have stayed 105 days over the past 140 days. Planning on doing a week trip outside of TH - is immigration going to give me any problems?
And if I re-entered with the DTV, would it be any different?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about potential immigration issues related to their METV Visa after staying 105 days out of a 140-day limit and plans to travel outside Thailand. They also question the implications of re-entering with a DTV Visa. Responses indicate that as long as their METV is valid, re-entering with it should not pose problems, although applying for a new visa while on an existing one is discouraged.
is that really the case? Wouldn't one visa simply cancel the other one out? So for example, someone with an elite visa that is expiring later this year could not apply for a DTV visa until the elite visa has expired, to replace the elite visa?
you can keep laughing and arguing if you like, but I can assure you i didn’t have to wait for my METV validity to expire before i got my DTV 😉 I also called the embassy in advance to verify 😘
Again, what you are saying is correct for long stay visas like ED, Retirement, marriage etc. Not for entry based short stay visas
on the premis that both your metv and dtv are e-visa's, yes you should be OK next time you enter, as you will present the DTV pdf to activate it instead of the metv pdf. If the METV is not e-visa then you may have questions at imigration as you will be presenting 2 visas at the same time.
you simply exit Thailand and get a exit stamp = no active entry. You can now re-enter under a different visa to activate entry under said visa.
Other visas can be different and a “change of stay purpose “ may need to be submitted. Especially if not leaving the country. But thats for long stay visas, not multiple entry tourist type visas
So you would need two active Visas to do this which is not possible, you would not be issued a second Visa outside of Thailand while you still have a live Visa.
with tourists visas yes you can. Long stay visas like ED, retirement, marriage etc is a different story. Tourist visa is only considered “live” when you have a active entry….
In country you can change from a Tourist Visa to various other Visas. This post is about converting to a DTV which is not available inside Thailand and leaving on a multi-entry Visa does not cancel that Visa so no Visa can be applied for until the live Visa has expired. It remains "live" up until the Valid Until date whether you are inside or outside Thailand.
