Is it possible to apply for a new visa after you received the 30day extension with the letter from your embassy?

Satun immigration advised me that in this 30days you can not make a new visa, but have to leave after these 30days or get another letter from your embassy. I might have misunderstood, as I read one member received this extension stamp and are planning on still applying for a non-o visa.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of applying for a new visa after receiving a 30-day extension facilitated by a letter from their embassy. They mention conflicting information from Satun immigration, which stated they must either leave after the extension or obtain another embassy letter. Comments indicate that generally visas are obtained outside Thailand and emphasize that an in-country application for a non-immigrant type visa may not be allowed after receiving such an extension.

AFAIK, there are NO immigration offices that are allowing people to apply for in country non-imm type visas once you get the 30 day extension with the embassy letter.

Check with your immigration office to make sure.

In Hat Yai they told me the same.

it would have been easier to understand if they did

Almost all visas are acquired outside of Thailand. Do you mean an extension of stay?

I meant if you are on your 30day extension (granted with your embassy letter) and during October month you decide to apply (for example) a study (ED) visa. I was told it wasnt possible to get a new visa if you received this 30 day stamp. But I might have misunderstood, so I would like to confirm this. Thanks

As an example you mentioned an ED visa/extension, but these types of visas are currently extremely hard to get, no language school, Monk, boxing etc, strictly university attended degree type courses only.

There has been nothing official or announced saying that a person *CAN NOT* go from an extension of amnesty to an extension of stay based on studying (or something else). I also know, as of right now, a person can not go from amnesty to an extension of stay based on education.

However, my advice is to go on whatever extension of stay you qualify for, and not to use this amnesty letter if at all possible.
