TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the necessity of obtaining a visa extension since their visa expires on February 4th and they plan to leave Thailand on February 12th. The community overwhelmingly advises obtaining a visa extension to avoid the risks associated with overstaying, which can lead to fines and potential detainment. Several comments discuss the seriousness of immigration laws, emphasizing that even small overstays can result in penalties.
the big deal? If police stop him and detain him for overstay he'll be chucked in the clink. The BDC is not a place anyone would want to spend any time.
Exactly. Then cancel your flight and stay for another 22 days. Or. Cancel your flight and rearrange to go back on the date your visa expires. Or. Do a cross border trip. Or. Or. Or. How did he get himself into the position in the first place…
Yes unless you wing it and hope you don’t get checked at a bar or checkpoint on the road. You will get fined 4000 baht at the airport when you leave if you get that far.
You should get an extension. Overstays were tolerated, but I heard reports that they are starting to detain people on overstays at the airport making them miss their flights, or this is at least what the guy at Integrity Legal said last month. I would not risk overstaying, it’s not worth it.
when you are already on your way out at the airport, this is considered as "giving yourself up to authority". An overstay of less than 90 days is no problem. You will be fined according to the law, and the maximum fine is 20.000 THB
You leave on the 12 th Feb but you visa expires on the 4th of Feb?
AND YOU ARE ASKING OF YOU NEED TO GET AN EXSTENSION??? BALLON HEAD
No of course you don't, just slide 1000 baht into your passport when you're at immigration at the airport as you stamp out of Thailand and all will be find
