TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires if a visa extension is necessary since their visa expires on February 4th but they plan to leave Thailand on February 12th. Several commenters advise against overstaying and recommend obtaining an extension to avoid fines or legal issues. The importance of adhering to visa regulations is emphasized, with suggestions for visiting local immigration services to extend the visa for a small fee.

Yes you do, you can normally extend at your local immigration office for 1900 baht or do a boarder run
Paul *******
Why leave on 12th? Stay longer enjoy your vacation

I would risk it and hope no one notices, I think you will be fine
the big deal? If police stop him and detain him for overstay he'll be chucked in the clink. The BDC is not a place anyone would want to spend any time.

Go to immigration and get another 30-day extension - 2000 baht. Anyway cheaper than 500 baht a day fine
Stephen *********
Do you even need a passport? Why bother? Its only paper. Only ink. Your presence is validatery enough.

NEVER go into overstay if you can prevent it

Yes unless you wing it and hope you donβt get checked at a bar or checkpoint on the road. You will get fined 4000 baht at the airport when you leave if you get that far.
Is your mom aware you in Thailand??? How did you manage to get here with the IQ of a ping pong ball?
Jordan *****
You should get an extension. Overstays were tolerated, but I heard reports that they are starting to detain people on overstays at the airport making them miss their flights, or this is at least what the guy at Integrity Legal said last month. I would not risk overstaying, itβs not worth it.
when you are already on your way out at the airport, this is considered as "giving yourself up to authority". An overstay of less than 90 days is no problem. You will be fined according to the law, and the maximum fine is 20.000 THB
absolutely, he should not get into a police check, or he will end in calamities
