Just wanted to verify ....I have Non O based on marriage I recieved in Vietnam.... if I go to immigration for an extension, will I receive 60 or 30 days.

I thought it was 60 days, but just had an agent tell me I'd only get 30 days.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion clarifies that a Non-O visa based on marriage typically allows for a 60-day extension of stay when applying for an extension at immigration, provided the correct documents are submitted. However, there are mixed experiences, with some individuals reporting being granted only a 30-day extension. This difference may depend on individual circumstances or the specific immigration office's practices.

Are you getting an extension of stay for visiting family that's good for 60 days? OR are you getting the one year extension of stay based on supporting a Thai family?
Barry *****
30 days only as I got it today and also told can only do it twice as after you need to leave the country or the visa will be canceled
Benjamin ******
>as I got it today and also told can only do it twice

Wait, what type of visa do you have again? I'm confused.
Benjamin ******
What extension did you apply for? If you applied for the extension of stay based on visiting family, it should have been for 60 days.

@Barry ****

The OP has a multiple entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national purchased in HCMC (

, am I correct).

He has three options:

1. Border bounce. At every bounce he gets a 90 day stamp. He can bounce in and out of Thailand every day if he wants. He can't do that right now.

2. Get an extension of stay based on visiting family. This extension of stay is good for 60 days, does not require finances. He may be able to get it once on the visa, or once for each entry stamp, depending on the immigration office.

3. Get an extension of stay based on supporting a Thai wife. This is good for one year, requires 40K THB of income a month or 400K THB in savings, and requires doing the 90 day reports.

@Ken *******
report to immigration every ninety day’s.

@Juan *********
with you visa from Vietnam. Do you NORMALLY have to leave every 90 days? I got mine from Savanakhet. Just asking. Thanks
Benjamin ******
If he got a multiple entry visa, it'll be 90 days. If it's a single entry, he'd only be allowed to use the visa once, and it'll be good for a single 90 day stamp.
Andrew ******
The Thai wife doesn't have to wait and be with you?
Andrew ******
I'm in Chiang Mai so I'll soon find out if she needs to be there
Tod *********
the REASON you get the extension has to be there. Meaning if you're getting the visit thai family extension based on marriage to a thai you take the thai you're married to with you
Dannie ***************
With the correct documents and your Thai wife...sixty.

And that's why you don't believe agents :O

you can apply for a 60 day "visit thai family" extension based on marriage to a thai
Starex ********
I was in Phuket Immigration with my wife Yesterday asking about the extension of my stay and they said coz am married to a Thai woman i can get a 60 day extension visa but i have to show up with our marriage certificate. So i think its best you process it yourself don't use an agent
