Any idea if one can apply for the 1 year extension based on marriage when on the "covid extension" and the original entry visa was a proper non O based on marriage ?
On one hand, the theory of visas is : you stay on the same visa as long as you have entered a country so that would be one interpretation that would make this possible.
On the other hand, local immigration office says no without discussion and the theory is the covid extension is actually a visa overstay amnesty (original visa has not been extended per se).
Has anyone managed to apply for such an extension with all proper documents and requiremwnts when already being on the visa amnesty ?
Thanks, good luck to everyone in this stressful visa period.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry discusses whether an individual can apply for a one-year visa extension based on marriage while currently under a Covid extension (visa amnesty). The user outlines conflicting interpretations of the visa regulations, notably the stance from their local immigration office, which denies the possibility based on their view of the Covid extension as an overstay amnesty. A comment suggests that individuals who originally entered on a Non-O visa may still be eligible to apply for the extension as long as they fulfill the requirements and do so before the Covid amnesty period expires.

IF you originally entered on a 90 day stamp from a Non-O visa and then went to amnesty you CAN indeed go apply for a yearly extension based on marriage as long as you meet the requirements. You need to do this BEFORE amnesty runs out because right now the amnesty is the only thing letting you be able to be here.
I just did a 60-day extension of my Non-O yesterday at Chaengwatthana immigration. Since my visa expires in October, the IO told me I can do a 1-year extension on my next visit on September 14th. Need to have 400K in the bank for 2 months when applying for the 1-year extension.
