I was in Thailand from Oct- Jan 2026, Left for Vietnam for 10 days then back to Thailand from Jan-april. I thinking I will have issue at Immigration so I put in for my Multiple ENtry visa. This leaves 11 working days before I depart for Thailand. Any suggestions, or opinions. Are my fears foolish or not that Immigration will give me problems returning so soon. Thanks for any responses.
Answer summary
The user is concerned about potential issues at Thai immigration upon returning after spending a total of 6 months in the country in the past year. They have applied for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) and are unsure if this will suffice given their extended stays. Community comments suggest that their history of long-term stays may raise flags with immigration, and emphasize the importance of having cash, accommodation, and an onward flight booked when attempting to re-enter Thailand. Overall sentiment indicates significant concern about being denied entry.

. You have little time for a visa from the thai eVisa website. So fly in blind and have the 3 important thing required by immigration

1. ฿20,000 in cash or equivalent

2. Where your staying

3 an onward flight within the 60 days (they haven't decreased it to 30 days.

Maintain your here for tourist purposes as you can't see Thailand in such a short time period

Good luck

Good luck if they let you in they may also try to collect income tax from you

Peter Hayes if you stay 6 months or 7 months. 5 months no.

Ray-Ray Kunkel my understanding more than 180 days in single tax year ending 31st March you become tax resident and must file tax return. I may be wrong

180 days in 12 months, do the maths but I think you already know 🤔 You could try an agent but Thailand are getting tougher now on people trying to beat the system

Pay an agent for safe entry if you’re that concerned. It’s a guaranteed entry, no questions asked. Even the METV isn’t a 100% guarantee entry.

you just cannot maximize touristic stays (regardless if they were on valid visas or visa-exempt) for more than 180 days within a 1-year period. According to your stay history, I can predict that you will be denied entry

If you maxed out both stays then you’ve had 180 days in Thailand. The METV is a tourist visa. I don’t think they will let you in.

if you returned to your home country there is really no limits on entry into Thailand under visa exemption rule.

Dan Wallwork no limits on entry but there is a limit on the number of days within a 12 month period. He's at 180 days within 12 months, his chances of being allowed in are incredibly slim.

Not foolish at all, your right to be concerned as between October and April you've spent 6 months in Thailand. If you have any other history in Thailand earlier in 2025 then you should be even more concerned. A tourist visa that might provide a further 6 months in Thailand might help a little but it's really looking like the you are trying to live in Thailand on tourist entries which they don't like. You will be at the mercy of the immigration officer you will stand in front of, make sure you have 20k baht or equivalent in CASH when you arrive along with accommodation booked and a ticket out in 60 days and keep your fingers crossed

Thanks for responding John. Appreciate it. But what do you think about the METV visa I will def wait for to be approved. $200, Multiple entry. If I am not approved by the time I fly out I will cancel my flight.

I think that an METV is a little better than visa exempt but at the same time it is just a tourist visa so might well not allow you to enter. It will be entirely up to the immigration officer you will stand in front of
