I read someone recently was held up at customs on entry into Thailand with a METV and I wanted to make sure I have all my bases covered.
For a METV when you enter Thailand what date should you have the ticket to show you are leaving Thailand?
Last time I had a METV I just had a ticket for my departure 7 months later at the end of the my visa stay.
When I flew out twice to reset my visa I bought my ticket after each time I had entered Thailand for the next flight to KL from Phuket.
They never asked me for a flight out the first time I entered back into Thailand but the second time they did.
On reflection the departure flight should probably should be either within 60 days or 90 days if you plan on getting extension of your entry into Thailand to be correct.
Do you have to have 20,000 baht cash with you or can you should customs on a bank account app?
And I understand you need to have proof of paid accommodation.
Thanks in Advance π

TLDR : Answer Summary
When entering Thailand with a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV), travelers should ensure they meet specific requirements to avoid complications at customs. Key prerequisites include having proof of funds (20,000 baht in cash), proof of onward travel (a departure ticket within 60 days), and proof of accommodation (like hotel bookings). Notably, holding a long-term ticket may raise concerns at immigration. Additionally, it's crucial to present funds in cash rather than via bank applications, and extensions may further complicate entry if a traveler has been in Thailand for extended periods.
Within your first 60 days ,not 90 days as that is after a 39 day extension .

There are 3 requirements to enter Thailand as a tourist:
1) Proof of funds (20,000 baht or equivalent in another major currency IN CASH ONLY)
2) Proof of onward travel (a ticket out of Thailand within the number of days you will be stamped in for, 60 days with a tourist visa)
3) Proof of lodging (at least a few days of hotel booking. (Do not use a lease. That does not make it look like you are a tourist. That makes it look like someone trying to live in Thailand with a tourist visa, which is why people are getting held up)
Most of the reports I've seen of people getting pulled out of line with a multiple-entry tourist visa have been people that already entered once, got an extension, left and returned and got an extension, then left and are trying to return for the 3rd time. At that point they've been in Thailand almost 6 months and immigration does not consider them a tourist anymore. A METV used to be a reliable 9 months, but since immigration is becoming much more strict, it's far from a guarantee anymore. Though I don't think I've seen anyone actually denied entry at this point.
