What should I do about my education visa cancellation given the school's delays?

Hello, I've read that i need to do a cancellation of my edu visa or else I'll be fined for overstaying.

The issue here is that I have been chasing and chasing the school for a termination letter and they said they're waiting for the owner to sign the documents. He's rumoured to be on holiday in Germany???

I kept reminding them a month prior to do up the documents and they are not giving me a clear response that they will be helpful.

I should be leaving on 28 December but I'm afraid I will not get the school to give me my documents in time.

What will happen if I just leave before my extension of stay date? I will most likely not be applying for any more long term stay visas in the foreseeable future.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat is concerned about canceling their education visa (ED visa) before leaving Thailand due to delays in obtaining a termination letter from their school. Despite repeated reminders, the school claims they are waiting for the owner to sign the necessary documents. The expat is worried about the consequences of leaving the country without formally canceling their visa. Community responses indicate that leaving without cancellation may only pose issues when applying for another visa or extension within Thailand, as the immigration office would view the extension as still open.

Are you on the initial 90 day visa or an extension of that visa? The only issue in the future if it's not properly cancelled is getting immigration office services inside Thailand, you'd need to clear any overstay fine they might have against you and proceed from there.

Ok so can I confirm once again that if I leave without cancelling my edu visa, I ONLY will face a problem if i try to get another visa or an extension within the country? That includes a work permit right?

I would go into the school and wait until someone signs it, there will be someone that can do it. If they dont do it today go back the next day. They will soon find a way.

The school have a legal duty to cancel and must have someone who can sign in lieu of the ownerโ€ฆ

Nothing will happen ๐Ÿ˜ฎ you will stamp out and leave.

You won't have issues comin' back on a free entry or any visa, BUT if you go to get a visa/extension inside the country the immigration office will see that you have an "open" ED extension in your passport and make you cancel that first and fine you for not cancelling it properly before you left

Just stamping out on an extension of stay does not officially cancel it at the immigration office, it just stamps YOU out of the country.
