I just realized I might of Fxxked up . I booked a flight with Airasia thinking it was from DMK but it is from BKk to Kk . I land from KL into DMK at 7.50am . So will I have enough time to go from DMK to BKK to catch to the domestic at 11.25am ..

( P.S When did Airasia fly domestically from BKK i thought they always flew from DMK ) Cheers fellas
Answer summary
The user is concerned about transferring from DMK Airport to BKK Airport after arriving from KL, as they have a domestic flight to KK shortly after. Comments suggest that there is a free shuttle service between the airports that takes about 40 minutes, but it might depend on traffic. Some responders indicate it's manageable, but others recommend rebooking the domestic flight for peace of mind.

I've done it many times, from touchdown to checked in in under 2 hours, use the taxi rank on the ground floor

I would see if you can book a taxi or car in advance. Sometimes you can queue a long time at DMK.

Alternatively, just rebook your flight from DMK. Yes, you’ll probably lose most of your fare but you’ll save on the taxi, which can be 600 baht.

OP
Thanks guys . So I'll be better off catching a taxi to Phaya thai ARL from the airport instead of catching Mrt to Beng Sue .??

Would that be quicker ??

Plenty of time.

But, I would just rebook my BBK-KKC ticket.

If it’s a weekday be prepared for possible traffic delays if you take a car. If you know the train systems well then you should be ok, though going via train from airport to airport will require about 3-4 trains…. Red line, MRT, BTS, Airport link. Otherwise taxi to nearest BTS station may be a good option and proceed from there as Kenny stated above

I think you have enough time. Takes about 1hr 30mins to get to bkk from dmk that’s if you know exactly how to get there by train without getting sidetrack. It’s actually not that hard. Take the bts to Phaya Thai then airport rail link to bkk.

There is a free shuttle bus between the 2 airports. Takes about 40 minutes, depending on traffic. Ask them to tag your luggage, rapid transit. Then it will get loaded last & come off first.

You'll probably have enough time. If you're very worried I would see if you can upgrade your ticket to get the priority checkin for your flight from BKK. That's the only thing that saved me once when I had about 90 minutes from the time my flight landed at BKK until my flight was supposed to depart at DMK. They only accepted my check-in bag at the priority desk if I signed a waiver saying I understand I was checking it in late and it might not be on my plane.

Just don't stop to pee or anything when you get off your plane, make a bee line straight to immigration so you can get in front of everyone and get through as quick as possible. This is possibly your longest potential delay. Then get your bags and get a car (don't try to take the bus if you're tight for time) straight to BKK and checkin. As long as your flight isn't delayed to DMK you should be fine. And AirAsia flights are almost always delayed on departure, so you might get a little extra cushion there as well.

As an expat that has been doing this same visa extension for the last 8 years, as long as you save copies of everything, because for your next yearly extension they want to see the original, and then accept a copy for their paper records, so, save copies of everything, then, next year you only have to update your bank letters, and pass book copies, and all the pictures. I might add that after your yearly extension all your originals, including the pictures, are scanned into your file, so they see everything from the past. I learned this the hard way too. They don't do it on the first 90 day entry, because not very many continue to the yearly extension, and it's financial requirement. Everything else is exactly the same, unless you move, and you know what that involves, but everything else is the same. With an appointment you're in and out in under an hour. You'd really be surprised how many people don't make an appointment, and just get a queue number when they show up. It actually gets easier every year, as you see the same immigration agents in that department year after year, usually until the next round of promotions, that don't happen every year. And, thanks for this. It clearly explains what to expect at the different levels, because when it gets to the end person it is expected to be perfect.

All looks correct. We warn people about blue ink often. For some reason they are deathly afraid that your signature is a photocopy instead of an original because it's in black?? But at least they gave you a decent workaround.

And good on them for informing you about how the re-entry permit could interact with your under consideration period and save you some money.

We often have people ask if they can wait until the last day to apply for their extension but your story shows how risky that can be we with requirements ever changing and even adding a new one the next day you return.

A long post so a little difficult for me to keep my replies organized. I'll just write some responses in order of when I read them from the top.

1) you did not enter with a tourist visa, you entered visa exempt (no visa at all).

2) Chiang Mai immigration lied to you. You could have paid 500 baht to get residence certificate next day. They won't tell you this though, you just have to know it. Yes it's annoying, but you live and you learn.

3) Leaving the country should not invalidate your existing documents

4) If you have a lot of travel coming up, it might be better to wait to get this entire process started. When you apply for your 90 day non-O visa, you are going to get an "under consideration" stamp and it's not advised to leave the country during this time. It's generally between 14 days-30 days. There may also be a home visit during this time.

5) Your funds do not need to be deposited for 60 days before you apply for the 90 day non-O visa. You just need the money in the bank. The 90 days are to allow the 2 month seasoning, and then when you have 30 days or so left you then go and apply for the 1 year extension which is what requires you to have the money in the account for 2 months already.

If I were you I would just wait until you get Singapore out of the way, and then start the process as soon as you get back.

As long as you are returning to your home country you'll have no problem. Lots of people work 2-3 month shifts, then have a month off, and come to Thailand for that month, with no problems.

Normally shouldn't be a problem. But because you have covid extensions it might be.

I’ve flown PAL numerous times. Not recently though. I’ve had many issues with them. With flight delays, cancellations, incorrect seating etc. I was stranded there for three days in Manila after my flight was canceled. Really no conditions transiting. Depends what terminal you’re in for availability of food etc. I would avoid them.

You have never had to print anything , although highly recommended, I never have and I'm on my second trip now. Just make sure your phone is charged up😉

Always print everything for Thailand. Your airline will probably want to see it even if Thailand doesn't.
