TLDR : Answer Summary
A traveler currently in Thailand, who arrived with a 60-day visa exemption, is inquiring whether leaving for Cambodia will grant them another 60-day entry stamp upon returning to Thailand. Community responses clarify that upon re-entry, travelers typically receive a 60-day visa exemption, provided they enter by air or land, but it is recommended to be cautious as immigration authorities have become stricter about multiple stamp entries. It is suggested to use a professional service to manage border crossings to avoid complications and to understand the new immigration policies that have changed since July 2024.

You don't need a visa. It is called a visa exemption. The number days left expires when you leave and resets when you come back.

I am not trying to scaremonger at all, Just letting you know this ain't the thailand it was back when they were giving 30 day entry, when you were guaranteed to of them by land in a calendar year, and they were really easy on air entries

Since July when they went to 60 days for more than 90 countries, they got really REALLY hard on people living here on free stamps.

They look at it as you got 60 days, you could have extended that for 30 more giving you three MONTHS here.

The officers at passport feel you should have either found a long term visa, or if you were a real tourist you should be going back to where you come from ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

That's why I say look for a service to bounce by land, as they have it set up so you get out/back without hassle, that's why they cost what they do.

Sincerely good luck with it, safe travels

tod, I agree with parts, but should you really be saying they have the wheels greased! I don't agree with all the finding ways around the system or giving advice to do so, it's having an adverse affect on legitimate people. I know you won't like this, but it's fact, too much is openly said and we should support the rules fully.

There is no doubt those services have it "arranged" so their clients get out/back the same day without any issues and without showing proof of onward travel, lodging or funds, ๐Ÿ˜• Dunno what else to say other than if you're going to bounce by land to use a service.

doubtful you got ANY visa when you showed up here ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I think what is far more likely is that you showed up without having bought a visa from a thai consulate before you came here and were stamped in for 60 days free stamp (visa exempt) entry ๐Ÿ™‚

Be that as it may

You can take one 30 day extension on that 60 day visa exempt entry for 1900baht at the immigration office serving the area where you stay.

Keep in mind by land you're going to run into problems trying to bounce yourself out/back to get a new free 60 day entry stamp AND even bouncing by air you could run into problems.

post on a group related to where you stay in thailand and ask for recommendations for a service that bounces people out/back from your area. They have it set up with the thai side of border control that you can get out/back the same day. Where as some crossings with Cambodia require you spend at least overnight and sometimes 2 nights out of thailand before you can come back

Flying isn't all that much better, because a short bounce out/back (a few days) isn't gonna fool immigrations at passport control when you go to stamp back in. They'll know you're doing it just to get a new free 60 day entry stamp and you could be questioned about your entry.

To answer your question about 60 or 30, ANY visa exempt entry, by air OR land gets 60 days now (since July 15th, 2024) so doesn't matter how you enter you will get 60 days IF they let you back in ๐Ÿ™‚
