Hello guys, hope all is well. I just need some advise. Our Educ visa is expiring this May 5 so the school advise us to cancel our visa on April 30 at Immigration. Then border run after with their agent. Im just wondering if:

1. Is it possible to cancel our Educ visa at the border in Cambodia? Instead of going to Immigration? School will provide cancellation letter.

2. Do we need to stay 1 night in Cambodia or we can just come back within the day? Im a bit confuse since this will be our first time. I hope you guys can enlighten me. THANK YOU ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on canceling their education visa, which is set to expire. They inquire whether it is possible to cancel the visa at the Cambodian border instead of going to immigration, and whether they need to stay overnight in Cambodia during this process. The responses indicate that visa cancellation must occur at immigration in Thailand, not at the border, and while it is possible to do border runs without an agent, some recommend using one for convenience. Additionally, there are concerns about issues at the Cambodian border that could complicate re-entry.

I've done 9 border runs, 3 turn arounds and never had an issue. Obtain a 6 month TR60 multiple entry while out of the country. $200 usd 6 month validity 60 day exit re-entry required, or 30 day extension.

The normal Cambodian border is a hotbed of issues. People not being let back in. Sometimes having to get down to Phnom Penh and flying back. I would suggest other options for exiting and re-entry.

You don't need an agent to do border runs. Craziest thing if you ask me, needing a company to assist just crossing a land border. Anyone can do that. But if the deal they propose is somewhat cost effective from the logistical perspective, you might consider it.

You cancel your extension of stay at immigrations, not the border. And it must be done in case you expect any further dealings with immigrations.

You have to cancel at immigration. If you are going with a border run agency you would not need to stay, leave them to organise it. Don't try and do it yourself

Thank you. I heard we can cancel our ed visa in the border but i guess, iโ€™ll be doing it at Immigration. After cancellation, do we need to exit right away or are they going to give us days to exit?

normally people cancel in advance with a letter from the school stating the last day of study, that would be the day you need to leave. If you just turn up to cancel it yourself you should leave that day, they might let you apply for an extension for 1900 baht which they will refuse and give you 7 days to get out of Thailand but they don't have to do that so I wouldn't rely on it
