Such a crazy system. Don’t even tell you why you got rejected. Everything was in order imo. Applied in Ho Chi Minh no idea what to do next. My girlfriend already has a job in Bangkok and now I can’t get into the country.

Have you had a work visa before? Immigration authorities usually don’t like these kinds of posts if you haven’t been legally employed before… And honestly, having your location set in Bangkok on your profile probably didn’t help either.

I think they are doing this on purpose now. I got screwed over too.

Applied 2 weeks ago for HCM. Meet all the requirements and above.

- 500k baht+ in a single, personal account for past 3 months. Clearly highlighted everything.

- I’m employed to my own company for the past 1,5 years. No freelance construction. Have all the formally signed documents by official institutions. Salary payments, salary slips, everything.

Provided very clear, simple documentation.

Now they just asked me to:

1. Provide a 6-month English bank statement with a balance over 500,000 baht

> weird that the requirement is 3 months, but now they ask for 6 months?

2. Provide details about your current work, including (1) your CV or portfolio, and (2) examples of your work, along with any supporting materials that demonstrate your experience and qualifications, etc.

> i’m employed as a director to my company. Not sure what to show them here😂

3. Please provide a business registration document showing the company name, the name of the legal representative, and a company profile that includes details about its history, vision, mission, products, achievements, and a link to your company’s website.

> already provided everything except details about the history & achievements of the company. Don’t see how that would add much info to the case since I literally have all the formal documents.

Seems like they looking for any reason to reject it and are willing to change the requirements on the fly. I’m from The Netherlands btw (Europe)

Same process I went through through and exact same questions they asked me in HCM.

I also thought some of those questions were odd.

Achievements ? I honestly didn’t know what to put there so I put generic things like “stable client relationships across XYZ countries”

Also documents showing examples of my work.. didn’t really know what to show them? So I sent everything I could but had to redact names due to privacy policies.

Showed them supplier agreements, order tracking database, examples of invoices and orders from clients, transaction flows, and since I’m not an employee and take owner draws periodically I don’t have a traditional “salary”. I highlighted that and showed explained that those were essentially my salary. I also showed them documents showing salaries paid to employees and contractors.

The agent put together a whole presentation of my company- seemed over the top to me but okay.

Anyway, rejected. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Where is your business physically located? Is that the same country you applied from? That would seem to be a major red flag if i was checking applications.

So many have issues applying in Vietnam, mainly because they do not understand your foreign documents. Vietnam also very busy because all the people living here on the wrong visa go to there to sort it out. So if your application is not perfect to them - bang rejected. Applying in your home country is always easiest because the staff there know both your documentation and the process. You could just keep trying but my advice to all who get rejected in Vietnam is the same , just fly home and apply from your home country.

If your gf worked in any other country you wouldn't be able to get a long term visa period. You messed up the docs, throw everything you have into Claude and ask it to be your personal assistant. The requirements are super clear and you can have no mistakes, this is a government application.

when looking at your profile, I have the impression you are (semi-)professional golf player ?

If they suspect you would get some extra income as a golf teacher in Thailand and/or make an income joining golf tournaments in Thailand, then this could be a reason to reject your application for a DTV.

it’s not my intention to criticise your application or your job status. Just giving you a possibility that could be used as a reason to cancel your application.

Sorrry, but that is your way of planning.

First a house, a girlfriend and a dog and when all settled try to get a legal stay in a foreign country???

Most people do it the other way around.

Most rejections from applying in Vietnam are because the bt500,000+ was not in your personal bank account for at least three months.

it was, they then asked for 6 months of statements when the requirement is only 3. Even after showing them 6 months still rejected

I’m having the same issue mate.

Already got a place in Bangkok. Dog already there, gf already got her visa.

Was rejected from HCM yesterday and can’t understand why.

Meet all the requirements- work online, income stable, savings well above the required amount.

Provided everything they asked for, showed work flows, company presentation etc. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Hope you’re figure it out bro.

sure, I never said that being a business owner is the problem. I know people get it that way.

Everything they asked for I gave. So I’m just confused as to the reason.

I presented all the same documents as you bar the tax filing. Wasn’t asked for, not implied that it’s needed and it’s not something I would think is required for such a visa or any visa.

I’m at a bit of a loss. Tbh I don’t really know how else I can prove anything. We’ll see what happens.
Pascal ***********
Pascal ***********
@Owen ****
being a business owner isn’t the problem as long as you can prove your claims.

I received my DTV as a business owner. But I applied from my home country where my residency is as well. I showed them my certificate of incorporation, tax filings of my company, balance sheets and personal tax filings. All official documents issued by our government.

So you must be rejected for another reason.
Owen *****

ReloThai

I’m not sure if there is an option like “business owner” or “employer” but everything submitted was presented as a business owner.

Company accounts, registration license, incorporation documents, share allocations etc.

Since you were already there, does that mean you changed visas and Thefore changed jobs? If you are doing the same thing you have been doing for a year but had a different view to do that before, it can be a red flag. That is why you see many people starting new online jobs in the posts
Owen *****
Owen *****
No I didn’t change jobs. Been running the same business for a couple of years.

I “moved” to Thailand in Feb. got the apartment sorted and everything ahead of time. Before the DTV process.

After physically moving, my gf applied for her DTV, got it in 10 days and came to Thailand.

Then I left Thailand to apply in Hanoi. Rejected. Applied in HCM. Rejected.

Both were through an agent.

The agent also doesn’t understand why and believes everything was presented as factual and is a “clear case for approval”

My business is very profitable but is also a tightly regulated industry - he thinks that may have caused issues but it’s a guess. (I export fine and raw chemicals for industrial purposes from Hong Kong and China for reference)
Owen *****
Owen *****
Only you say it’s a one man business…

Nothing sketchy about it. There are certain chemicals that are made that are needed to produce end products. I source and trade those. It’s regulated but not illegal or “sketchy” as you put it.

Assumptions are cheap aren’t they?
Owen *****
Owen *****
Might be. I have heard some horror stories about them.

I also can’t allocate a certain amount of classes or lessons or whatever to that depending on the time. I’ve heard there’s loopholes to this depending on the organisation though.

I’ve gone back and forth over just applying for the elite visa but I’m undecided if I want to be in Thailand THAT much.

sounds kind of like a sketchy industry. Don’t you think that maybe that’s why they’re rejecting you? Your 1 person business “exports fine and raw chemicals for industrial purposes” lol 😂

If you got rejected, obviusly there was something wrong with the application itself or an error when applying like a misspell of name etc.

There is always a reason for a rejection. They just dont tell. Yes it sucks but can in most cases be found if someone else then you look at your paperwork as a second oair of eyes.

Like John says here aswell. They are not required to give you a reason but they might do so if you contact them.

If you need a pair of eyes on your documents feel free to send me a message.

Data mismatch would result in cancellation rather than rejection. As you say, reasons aren’t given in either case. It could be the Embassy is applying additional criteria not published on their website. If that was the reason, Jamie would have a greater chance of success reapplying via a visa agent.
John **********
John **********
No consulate of any nation provides a reason alongside a visa rejection. You can of course try to contact them to ask but there's no requirement for them to tell you. Under which option did you apply for the DTV?
