TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses difficulties expats face in obtaining a Non-B multiple entry visa in Thailand, particularly for employees or shareholders in a company. Several commenters express frustration regarding recent policy changes that limit the availability of long-term visas without specific company ownership roles. They highlight that in their region, only a single-entry Non-B visa is available, which can be extended after a stay.

Yeah this is a financial killer. Just another big indicator that the gov do not want us living and working here. You try to do the right thing, not working on tourist visa's so you get a permit and then pow!! You get this come up.

Its abundantly clear from this they just want tourists to come spend money then do one. Despite us contributing to the economy still, paying tax etc. Sad state of affairs.

it may come as a surprise to you but far more people are on yearly extensions of stays based on employment here in thailand than are on those year-long, multi-entry Non-B visas.I have found that it's mostly people in southern thailand (especially on the islands) who are on those multi-Non-B's because the companies are not legit in one way or another. :O

I think thats likely to be the case here. Its a huge list of docs, i cant see any company being able to meet even half that criteria.

One more thing, many many companies were sending their employees out of the country to get those year-long, multi-entry Non-B visas because for one reason or another they couldn't meet the documentation requirements inside the country to get a yearly extension. :/
Roni ******
Cant thank you enough for your help. Expert advice!

@Ro**
or just stop into your immigration office, most of them have a hand out that lists everything you need.

@T**
Thanks so much for this. Im not sure if my company can provide all the documentation detailed on the site but its worth a go.

You need to understand the difference between a year-long, multi-entry Non-B visa <- that you used to get from a thai consulate and where you bounced out and back in every 90 days

AND

A year long extension of stay <- that you get from the thai immigration office in your area.

They are TOTALLY different things, require very different documentation.

It has nothing to do with the government NOT wanting people here and EVERYTHING to do with the government wanting people here on yearly extensions and NOT on visas they bounce out and in on every 90 days.

As i just wrote down, every Immigration office has their own special requirement but they do give hand outs with a list of those requirements. The general requirements are on the link I provided.

@Robert ******
I can visit a local immigration office for this? What requirements would i need to bring with me to support? I cant thank you enough for this absolutely invaluable help. If this works out i will build a weird shrine and hero worship you!
Robert *******
Most Immigration offices have a hand out with their requirements, but the general info you can find here:

I would honestly love to know the answer because this will kill me and im only trying to do the right thing and live within the requirements of the Kingdom
Robert *******
30 days before your Admitted to Stay period ends you visit Immigration office and apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay.
Roni ******
OK so please advise me that on how i now go about getting 1 year biz visa? Because i work for a company and now im only allowed 3 months per time. As apposed to every other year i was allowed a 1 year visa.
Robert *******
@Ro**
, the Consulate changed, they sell visa's. The requirements of getting the WP and Extension of Stay did not change. So you buy a visa, come to Thailand collect your WP and apply for the Extension of Stay. That is how the system should work, not buy a visa, go abroad buy a visa and continue this for years.
Roni ******
Yes they have. you can now only get 3 months unless your a shareholder or company owner. My last year under work permit status was a 1 year biz visa. So yes these are new changes.
Robert *******
You did some research before you got a Work Permit and extension of stay. Those requirements did not change the last 15 years since I'm here.

@Ly**
believe me you're no the only person in this predicament :/ There are a LOT of people affected by this policy change and so far there's no consulate in the area that will issue a year-long, multi-entry Non-B without being a director of the company.

Thank you, Tod

Not in this region, you can only get the Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa, which gives you 90 days of Stay on entry. After 60 days you can apply at your local Immigration office for the 1 year Extension of Stay based on working and after collecting this Extension you apply for the Multiple re-entry permit.

Maybe there're some Thail consulate as Lao, Kota Bhru etc still can doing it.
Robert *******
Than you're only option is to travel every 90 days abroad or talk to your employer to get things in order.

The point is I can't apply for 1 year extension at the local immigration.
Robert *******
Both mentioned is only the 90 days. If you already have the Non Immigrant B visa and WP you can apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay at your local Immigration. Not need to go other countries.
