TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks information on the necessary documents for obtaining a multiple entry visa at the Thai consulate in Vientiane. Comments clarify that multiple entry visas may not be available for tourist purposes and that one viable option for expats with Thai children is to apply for a Non-O visa at the Penang consulate, contingent upon meeting specific financial requirements. There are suggestions to consider visa extensions within Thailand prior to traveling to Laos.

, there is ONLY ONE thai consulate in S/E Asia that will give you a year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O visa based on being the father of half thai children. AND it doesn't matter if you've went thru family court to be recognized as the legal father or not.

That thai consulate is the one in Penang Malaysia and they require you show proof of 400K baht (or the equivalent) in a bank account. There is no seasoning so the money can be put in shortly before you apply for the visa.

ALL the rest of the thai consulates will only issue a 90 day single entry Non-O based on raising half thai children.

As i read you want to raise children in Thailand. Than the question is are you the legal father of these children or are you only on the birth certificate of these children?

, he runs a visa agent in Penang.

Their website links to the KL website, so the application form is incorrect and Penang is giving out the 1 year Multiple Entry Visa but the rest of the requirements should be the same

what other paperwork do I need for this visa in Penang?
Robert *******
Alternative is get a Single Entry Non Immigrant O Visa based on having a Thai child, on entry get 90 days of stay. After 60 days you can apply at Immigration for the 1 year Extension of Stay based on having a Thai Child but also here a requirement is minimum 400.000. Thb on a bank account. If they stamp this year into your passport you can apply directly for the Multiple Re-Entry Permit, so you can travel as you like without losing this year of stay.

Evert Harb The only Thai Consulate who gives out the multiple entry Non Immigrant O visa based on having Thai children is the Thai Consulate in Penang, One of their requirements is having minimum 400.000 Thb on a bank account.

I was never married, but went to family court to get the paperwork for the passports.

I think I need this non-O visa but a multiple entry.....

Or where the children born during your marriage with a Thai National?

Passport does not make them legally your kids in Thailand, did you go trough Family court to become official parent/legal father? But in any case you can apply with the birth certificate at a Thai consulate for a Single Entry Non Immigrant O Visa based on having a Thai Child and get 90 days on entry. This can be extended with 60 days to visit family or 1 year of your are the official parent/legal father.

I would first extend your current stay for 30 days at Thai Immigration 1,900 Thai baht. Then...go to Vientiane and apply for a Tourist visa...gives you 60 Days and extend it at Thai Immigration for 30 days 1,900 Thai baht. Go to Udon Thani ...take van to border...cross go to Thai Consulate Vientiane morning first day...pick up afternoon next day. Do not fly....use bus and vans. OK to fly to Udon Thani...cheap airfares.

Bobby Howard costs of flights expensive. And Thai Immigration at airports seem to be more critical of seeing multiple entries into Thailand using back to back exempt border entries, tourist visas, extensions of both and other visas too such as Ed Visa. Most (not all)border entries more favorable. Allowed two per calendar year.

@Ja***
. Is there any reason you suggest not flying to Vientiane? Thanks
