Which is a better trip for a family: Hua Hin or Pattaya?

Good evening Thai experts.

i intend to make a trip prob 3D 2N to either Hua Hin or Pattaya in end Dec period.

My questions are 
1. Hua Hin or Pattaya is more fruitful trip ? (2 adults , 1 teen) 
2. Any recommended drivers and hotels ? 
3. Any typical itinerary ? What are the interesting stuff to do there ? I have never been to both places

Walk over to a couple of the many tourist information counters you will meet, when you walk around.

No matter what you want to do, you can get advise there, they are the most  knowledgeable people about what is going on, at the destination.

Then you will get a real live person, to help you finding the best tours / transport or what your need, and if they don’t provide excellent service, easy to pick another.

They have the local knowledge about almost everything a tourist need.

Tours / transport can be booked just 1-2 days ahead, in that way, it’s possibel to take the weather in account, which you can’t do by booking weeks or month ahead online.

And as a extra bonus, you will support local people by dealing directly with them.

If anything goes wrong, you will know where to contact face to face.

Pattaya is much more lively, has great shopping, and more interesting.......but it is very seedy in places. But you can avoid most of those areas if you school yourself as to where they are. Oh yea, dont walk down beach road at night. Its a giant flesh market.

Also, it is much more crowded and hectic and loud with traffic than Hua Hin.

Pattaya if you're for wild partying nights and a not so clean beach (although there are clean beaches just a short boat ride away). Hua Hin if you're more into getting to know a small traditional Thai coastal town with cleaner beaches.

Good water parks in both cities which good activity. Both actually have some good activities depending upon your likes/dislikes. Pattaya does offer snorkelling day trips.
