Is it safe and feasible to travel to Thailand with a 1-year-old baby during COVID-19?

Dears,

We are from SG and we have some “mandatory” days off to take at the end of the year .

We are considering beautiful Thailand but

1) we have a 1 y old baby and we don’t want to stay far away from hospitals (eg small islands not an option)

2) we are not sure if it s a good idea with covid and a baby touching everything…

3) is the process ( visa, covid tests..) complex?

->Would you go? WHERE would you considering the above ?

Thanks a lot

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat family from Singapore is considering traveling to Thailand with their 1-year-old baby during mandatory days off at the year's end. They express concerns about proximity to hospitals, COVID-19 safety, and the complexity of travel processes like visas and testing. Community members debate the merits of traveling with a baby, suggest Bangkok for its amenities and ease of exploration, and recommend Surin province for a more local experience, highlighting that hospitals are accessible in Thailand.

Why not? Travel with a baby is easy. It's gets harder when they're walking, then easier again later.

Come to Surin province. I holiday in a small village and the people are great. Never any problems. Hospitals everywhere in Thailand. Always to see the real Thai people. Away from the tourist areas.

Depends if you want beaches or not.

Its my understanding that VTL route will only be from Bangkok at the moment.

Its good time to see tourist things without the hordes of package tours.

thank you! From Bangkok though I could take an internal flight or other transports . Would you stay in Bangkok? Or anything you would reco? I m fine with beaches just not isolated islands and maybe with something to do for kids 😬

yes 1 was enough for me, its more for what you want as Baby not really old enough to be taking part in any activities. Bangkok has abundance of the two favourite Singaporean hobbies (eating and shopping ) although after being stuck in Singapore for two years probably fed up of malls. The tourist spots are still empty grand palace etc and its a good chance to see them.

Phukets quiet at moment and some great deals on Hotels

There is no difference between your baby touching everything there then it is touching everything in Thailand. The chance of your baby catching the virus is probably 0.

not super sure… as Singapore is crazy for hygiene and cases are going down. I m not obsessed at all with covid, I m relaxed myself but babies you never know ..😅 then probably mild symptoms but not be able to go back home 🙄
