Can someone please explain to me how to get a non B Visa before getting  work permit? Can I flight to get it  or must be done by land?

You check the website of the Thai Consulate you like to visit, to make sure you meet all the requirements and if you have to make an appointment. Than you make your way to that Consulate, it is your choice how to travel.
