When and which consulate is best to apply for my 30 days extension? I’m in Chiang Mai but heading to Bangkok. Soon. I’ve been here 33 days already.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The best way to obtain a 30-day extension in Thailand is to visit the local immigration office rather than a consulate, as there are no Thai consulates within Thailand. For individuals currently in Chiang Mai, the recommended locations are Central Festival mall or the immigration office near the airport. Extensions can typically be requested well in advance; with some offices accepting applications up to 45 days before visa expiration, though it varies by location. Be sure to check the hours of the immigration office, as some may be closed on certain days.

If you have a 60 day tourist visa then the last week of the 60 days, sooner rather than later.

no need to wait until the last week as it will be added to the current exit date

only about 3 turn you away and tell you to return with 7 days or less remaining. The majority are 30 days and some allow 45 days out.

From a very recent post in a Hua hin group '' We both went to extend our 60 day visa at Blueport this afternoon..After waiting 2 hours and having all of the required paperwork we were advised to return to the immigration office 14 days before our visa expires. As our visa expires on 17th March not until the 3rd March..Hopefully this info will help others.'' Guess it depends how busy they are and what mood they are in 🙂

You don't get an extension from a consulate, and there are no Thai consulates in Thailand.

You get an extension from the immigration office of the province where you are staying.
