For individuals who have renewed their passport in Thailand, is it necessary to visit immigration to transfer the old stamp to the new passport prior to exiting Thailand, or can I simply present my old passport at immigration alongside the new one?

Iโ€™m not on a visa.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When exiting Thailand after renewing your passport, you can simply present both your old and new passports at immigration, as you are not on a visa. However, for land exits, there may be a risk of being directed to immigration to transfer your stamps.

If you exit by land then you can get refused and directed to the Immigration Office to transfer your stamps

You can just show both passports exiting the country when this current stamp runs out..

Then there's no need to transfer the entry stamp or anything at all
