When is my first 90-day reporting due after extending my Non-Immigrant O visa in Thailand?

Hello! I entered Thailand in February and just a few days ago I got my Non-Immigrant O visa extended here in Thailand for another year.

Do I have to do the first 90-day-reporting now, i.e. 90 days after entering the country or 90 days after the date of extension which would be in August?

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 90-day reporting requirement is based on your date of entry into Thailand, not on the date of your visa extension. Since you entered Thailand in February, your first 90-day report is due 90 days after that entry date, regardless of your visa extension. Check your passport for any stapled 90-Day Report Receipt, as it may provide specific dates related to your reporting.

Kook Breez is correct. 90 days starts when you enter Thailand

actually that's NOT correct :( the O/P got their first yearly extension AND they didn't notice that the immigration office had put a paper in their passport stating when they do their FIRST 90 day report

After they looked thru their passport they found the slip telling them when they do their first report

90-days reporting and extensions are not related as such. When you entered Thailand back in February you got an "admitted-to-stay" date. This is actually your guide to the 90-days reporting. However, it seems a little strange that you have got your extension before the "admitted-to-stay" date. It could sound like they forgot to give you the first TM47 receipt together with your extension. However, your 90 days notification date starts when getting the extension.

90-Day Reports and extensions are not related, I agree. However, if every time you get an extension of stay immigration staples a new 90-Day Report Receipt/Next Appointment Date into your passport you can be forgiven for thinking they sort of are. I don't know if this goes on at other immigration offices but it's been going on for 8 years in Phuket. ;-)

The 90 day report is always based on the date on your immigration stamp when you entered the country. It does not start over when you get a new extension. The only time it starts over is if you leave Thailand and return.

In my experience of 8 years in Phuket this is not true. When I apply for a retirement extension my passport comes back with the retirement extension stamp and a new 90-Day Report Receipt/Next Appointment Notice. I honestly can't remember this not happening. They don't discuss it, ask me if that's what I want. It just happens. I notice it when I check my passport after having it returned to me. I can't say whether this happens at other immigration offices or not.

your timing seems to work out where your 90 day report matches your retirement extension time frame. It is coincidence.

Just thought I'd share my experience. Apparently, it also happened to the OP as well. ;-)

Look in your Passport, your report date is in there on a stapled piece of paper from the ID!

Not rocket science.

No problem, glad you found it! I always check mine after they give it back because in December 2020 I went through the "Drive In" at Phuket and they forgot to change the year to 2021 and said I had to report back sometime in March 2020!!!

Sorry, I just had a closer look and noticed that they stapled it in right behind the official address slip that my landlord had given to me after registering me.

Thanks!

When you got your extension of stay did they staple a new 90-Day Report Receipt/Next Appointment Notice into your passport? If yes, go by the Next Appointment date on that. If no, then go by the Next Appointment date on your old Next Appointment Notice. Often in my experience, I do get a new 90-Day Report Receipt/Next Appointment Notice when I extend my stay.
