Question Re: Timing of 30 Day Visa Extension

If we enter on the 60-Day visa exemption and want to apply for 30/day extension, can we apply any time (ie, shortly after we arrive)?

Does the 30 days get added to the end of the 60-days, no matter when you apply? Or do we need to wait until near the end of our initial 60-day period?

I hope my question makes sense.

TIA!

Answer summary

When applying for a 30-day extension after entering Thailand on a 60-day visa exemption, it's generally advisable to wait until you have about 30 days remaining on your initial visa. Some immigration offices may allow applications up to 45 days prior to the expiration, but many, like those in Jomtien and Samui, require you to wait until there are only 7 days left.

No, the standard time is when you have 30 days remaining although a few offices allow extensions 45 days out but Jomtien and Samui will not extend until the last 7 days

Thank you. Do you know where I can find the requirements (eg, timing, etc), change? I’ve been looking, but not having luck.

For which Immigration Office? Extensions will be added to your current stamped date so there is no loss in going early, the cost will be 1900B.
