Hello, I want to attend this course. It's offered by a non profit. I don't work but have savings. I am on my third visa wjth extension in Thailand so last year I stayed 90 days then border run to reapply for e visa a then come back then did that again twice. I don't think my fourth visa will be approved and also it does not cover this course which requires 100 percent attendance. Can you guide me on what to do?
Answer summary
A user seeking advice on attending a meditation instructor course in Thailand is facing challenges with their visa situation. They have previously gone through multiple visa extensions and express concern about not being able to obtain approval for a fourth visa, especially since the course requires 100% attendance. Community members suggest exploring an education visa (ED visa) or a DTV visa, but warn of increasing scrutiny on visa applications linked to non-accredited programs. The discussion highlights the importance of having a legitimate visa that aligns with the intended course of study and urges the user to consider other options, including potential return to their home country if their visa situation remains unresolved.

You aren't going to get a DTV with that course. If you have the required funds in a bank account, the best choice for you is to try signing up for 6 months muay or cooking and pray you get approved. Since this meditation course starts in 2 weeks you better jump on it quickly.

Stig Fjellstad desperate? Here is the correct word for you "passionate and practicing meditation". "get proper visa" that's a very value added comment. Thanks.

Hey anonymous person, you should look into the education visa if you’re interested in learning the Thai language, it has less restrictions than dtv

Anonymous participant 451 the Ed Visa no longer is a wise decision. Especially with his prior entries and living in Thailand.

James could you explain further as I’m debating between education vs dtv soft power? Why is not a wiser decision any longer?

Anonymous participant 451 there's been an ongoing crackdown by Thai Immigration Officers on the fraudentiy obtained Ed Visa and Volunteer Visas.

The DTV visa is a 5 year multiple entry tourist visa. Each entry gets you 180 day stamp.

The Soft Power Activity choices are easy to obtain the DTV visa.

If you meet the simple requirements for the DTV visa.

Recently 10,000 Ed Visas were canceled by Thai Immigration for not meeting the requirements for the Ed Visa. Some of those had overstay of 90 days and were fined 20,000 Thai baht with a one year ban on entering Thailand.

The Ed Visa is much more costly and usually only can study for one year.

During that year, it's NOT 🚫 Wise to leave Thailand and return. As Thai Immigration Officers likely will ask why you are not in school and passing tests. Thus, possibly denying entry.

You can apply for the METV. $200 and it’s a six month visa. Have to do exits and entries.

Is this Meditation Instructor Course licensed and allowed to hand out the documents to apply for a DTV?

Just a memo that some i..... is giving a course is not enough to get you a 6 year stay in Thailand.

it's done through a temple and a non profit. They said they don't have education registration

So why do you look for the incorrect visa?

Anonymous participant you won't get a DTV based on this course. And it sounds like you won't be able to get an ED visa either. I doubt with your history an METV would work either. You could possibly get a Thai Privilege visa, or if you're over 50 or married to a Thai a Non-O visa with extension

I asked about this before they said it's not a religious visa qualified that usually goes for those who want ro be monks and stuff like that. If I do it I'll need to be here may to Dec tk dk the exam so MTEV for 6 months won't be enough either

So you spent 90 days times 3. That was already generous..

Anonymous participant frankly I think it's time for your return to your home country. Get a Job...Save 500,000 Thai baht to Apply for the DTV visa... as well as funds to support yourself in Thailand.

With your recent history of entering Thailand with Visa Exempt Entry and extensions, be prepared for questions from Thai Immigration Officers upon next arrival with likely DENIED ENTRY.

I'm usually one who can identify a way to stay in Thailand... BUT your situation is dire and needs to be recognized as such.

Anonymous participant what Evisa did you get? Even if it is a SETV single entry tourist visa, you are on the radar for questioning by Thai Immigration Officers upon arrival next time.

May I ask? Why are you coming to Thailand so many times? Working?

Thai wife? Thai child? Thai friend?

That course of study for Thai language is not eligible for the DTV visa.

Where are you now?

What is your passport nation?
