TLDR : Answer Summary
To stay in Thailand from October to April, you have several options depending on your nationality and situation. You can enter on a visa exemption, which typically allows for 60 days plus a 30-day extension by visiting an immigration office. For longer stays, consider applying for a Non-O Retirement Visa if you are aged 50 or over, which requires proof of funds (800,000 baht in a Thai bank account). Alternatively, the DTV visa is another option for digital nomads. Some users suggest making border runs to extend your stay every few months. Always check the specific visa requirements based on your passport and plan accordingly.
Book an air ticket and a hotel (if you book a package it will probably be cheaper).

Look at the Thai visa pages, decide which visa suits your circumstances best, go through the requirements and make sure you can provide what is required, and then apply.

You have to read the website of the Thai Embassy in your country, and see which visarequirements you can fullfill.

Iām spending the North American winter in Bangkok (November - May). I entered on a visa exemption (60 days). Extended by 30 days at the local immigration office. On Feb 24th Iāll fly to Singapore for a few days and return for another 60 days, which Iāll extend another 30 days. Theyāll get me 180 days and Iāll avoid the winter.

Ask your friend, because your question is too intelligent for humans like me.

Don't forget to report your residence address with in 24 hours when you will be arriving for first visiting.
We do exactly this (Oct to April), both have a dtv visa.
I wouldnt rely on the border bounce system anymore, immigration seem to be getting ever more fussy on these continuous entries, they appear to be coming to an end.

I like to read the helpful replies when someone ask a question but there are a lot of useless comments that donāt help anyone but I guess serve as entertainment to the person who post them

If someone ask a question and yes even a vague question, they deserve a helpful response or request for more details but if you donāt want to do that just donāt post and keep scrolling
This guy asked a stupid question, so he got adequate answers. He can't even add a question mark at the end of the question, and you expect people to treat him seriously? People like him should not travel because there's a high risk he would probably get lost in the toilet at the airport. If someone asks, "I want to be a professional footballer. What should I do?" would you also give him advice? The proper advice for him should be to stop being lazy and grow up.
yes seen when you ask a vague question with little to no information you will get snark remarks as the answer varies depending on age and what passport they hold
For 6 months you not need visa : visa exemption 60 days + 30 days extension you make a border bounce and come back and get 60 days exemption + 30 extension
If he is from USA I believe we need an approval letter before getting the visa. I'm not sure how this process works. I have asked before but got replies from travel agency. I don't want to send money to some travel agency in another country as it could be a scam. I'd like to do the whole process myself.
why should the onus of the effort be on the person answering the question and not the person asking it, we donāt need to encourage people to be as helpless as they possibly can.
If you need help on how to ask for help, you got an issue
METV or 2x visa Exempt entries with 30 days extension, depending on which country your passport is from.

Either apply for a DTV visa, or apply for a non-O retirement visa (assuming you are 50+) and then put 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account when you get to Thailand and apply for the 1-year extension.
