TLDR : Answer Summary
A user in Manchester is seeking recommendations for visa agents in the UK to assist with the Thai visa process. The discussion reveals mixed opinions on the necessity and effectiveness of using an agent. Many contributors suggest that applicants can successfully navigate the visa application process independently, arguing that hiring an agent might complicate matters instead of simplifying them. Specific recommendations include 'Borderless Setup,' a UK-based agent. Participants emphasize the importance of understanding the visa requirements and being prepared to handle the documentation oneself.

Just apply yourself... I did it from Manchester too.. it's dead simple, fill out the form on their website, attach any documents they need that's it.. you will get a reply if they need anything else to submit in a few days.

Got a feeling that someone helps dress you & make other BiG decisions I.e which lunch box snack you're allowed before you venture out into the Big wide ๐ŸŒ

You really can do it yourself. Just read the requirements and provide the documented proof. If they require further clarification, they will ask for it.

DTV really is dead simple unless you have some really complex company, financial and tax set up in which case I'd either go soft power or get a solicitor to look over it. Also for what it's worth people seem to want to rush towards agent's which is some cases can do more damage than good and cause serious immigration problems for you even one's that are recommended and highly rated and I'm speaking from experience. Only use an agent as a last resort is my advice.

ok thanks for this. Do you happen to know if the proof of funds can be in a savings account or does it need to be in a current account?

Cheque or savings is fine as long as itโ€™s accessible. ( not a fixed term deposit)

Using an agent for the DTV is counterproductive and adds no value. You still need to assemble the same documents you would give the Agent versus clicking and uploading on the site.

Anonymous participant 804 donโ€™t listen to the anonymous people that try to make you feel stupid for using an agent. They can be cheap, and in my opinion itโ€™s worth it to have certainty.

whatโ€™s even cheaper is uploading the files yourself. Takes about 15 seconds. There is no value add from an agent unless youโ€™re an absolute simpleton that likes throwing money at people.

yes I do know their situationโ€ฆ theyโ€™ve been hoodwinked into thinking an agent helps them. Nothing to do with โ€œpoorโ€โ€ฆ I got to my position in life by not throwing money at scammers. Thatโ€™s why I have enough to own houses, vehicles, and boat in Thailand and spend more per month on things that are valuable than you make in a year

I know the situation relevant to this discussion yes. No one with 3 connected brain cells would look at the applications and think โ€œoh, Iโ€™m gonna need help doing thisโ€
