TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, traveling to Thailand with a 90-year-old mother, partner, and 15-year-old son, faced a rejection of their NON-O visa application due to insufficient funds. They are seeking alternative visa options for a stay of 68 days. Responses suggest a Tourist Visa (SETV) for up to 89 days is suitable. It provides 60 days upon entry, with an option for a 30-day extension at an immigration office. Additionally, there is a note that the original visa application fee is non-refundable, and thus must be paid again for any new application.

And if your application was accepted and you paid the fee with the application, that fee is not refundable whatever result you get. If you want to apply for another visa again, you need to pay the fee again.

If you want to stay up to 68days in Thailand, Single Entry Tourist Visa would be the easiest.

SETV is valid for 90days from the issued date to enter Thailand. Once you enter Thailand during 90days, you will be stamped for 59nights 60days (<- this is the part many people confused with 60days and 90days). Then it is eligible for you to apply at the local immigration office for 30days tourism extension. You can stay in Thailand for 89days total without much hassle.

Plus you can get a 30 day extend to the TR giving 90 days...

@John *********
you are allowed to extend the TR60 tourist visa once you are in Thailand at any immigration office for another 30 days for 1900 baht.

The TR visa gives you maximum 60 days in Thailand. However once you are in Thailand you can apply for a 30 day extension of stay at the local immigration office for 1900 Baht (this is added on to your 60 days from the visa). So you get 90 days - 60 days from the TR Visa you bought before your trip plus an additional 30 days from the extension of stay you buy once you are in Thailand.

so what is the actual name of the visa tourist 60 or 90 day what am I looking for Jamesi think my mother's application for the non o is OK and payment I sent for the non o for me is lost and have to pay again thank you

If you are only going to stay 89 days...then the tourist visa is perfect for you and your mother.

That will give you 60 days on arrival plus 30 day extension = 90 days stay.

You both will need COVID insurance to enter and stay...due to mothers age of 90 best option is to buy the COVID only policy from the Thai insurance group formed by the Thai government.

As father of Thai child...

If you are registered with the Amphur you can obtain a 60 day family visit extension for 1,900 Thai baht.

But your mother cannot get the added 60 days.
