I arrived in Bangkok 9 DAYS ago. I am flying back to the US for a couple weeks in January.

I would like to spend the next 6 months to a year Traveling through Thailand, going to Cambodia back to Thailand, going to Singapore back to Thailand, going to Bali back to Thailand.

What kind of visa do I need to do that?

I was told: "Best way would be to get a 6 month multiple entry tourist visa once your back in the US. Ideal if you want to be able to travel in and out of Thailand."

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking to spend up to a year traveling through Thailand and neighboring countries. They were advised that obtaining a 6-month Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) before returning to the US is the best option, allowing unlimited entries into Thailand with a 60-day stay per entry.

Just read from another one of the posts you made in a different group that you're going back to the US in January.

If that's the case, when you do go back in january definitely get a 6 month METV from one of the 4 thai consulates that offer it (Chicago, Los Angeles, New York or Washington DC). It's definitely the way to go as far as letting you enter/exit thailand an unlimited amount of times in 6 months and every time you do enter you get stamped in for 60 days.

I think you have enough advice to figure it out. Good Luck (y)

I don’t think you should have a problem coming in and out of Thailand on a visa exempt stamp that you get at the airport (just like, I assume, you did coming to Bangkok 9 days ago). As long as they see you’re not abusing the system you should be fine. But if getting a visa is not a problem to you, get it. It’ll take off any stress related to going through immigration.

yes, the 6 months valid Multiple Entry Tourist Visa gives you on each entry before the valid until date maximum 60 days of stay inside Thailand. It is the ideal visa for a tourist who like to travel around Asia with Thailand as basis.

Yes that visa would be your best bet, I believe in your last entry you'll get an additional 90 days (not sure). As far as staying a year, you'll need an additional visa of some kind and extension.
