TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster inquired about booking an appointment for an ED visa in Vientiane, wondering if they should select a non-immigrant or transient visa. The community clarified that a non-immigrant visa should be booked, and also noted essential rules like the requirement for the account to be in the applicant's name and restrictions regarding previous ED visas. Additionally, there was discussion on the timing and implications of applying for a 7-day extension.

Yep you need Non-Immigrant as the choice, BUT heed Ron's warnings about having a previous ED visa from anywhere in the last 12 months and that they need an account in their own name

remember when you apply for a 7 day extension it cancels all the days you have remaining and starts from the day you apply for it. That's why
@El***
said apply for it as late as possible to get as much out of it as you can

And if she's had an ED visa from ANYWHERE in the last 12 months, she cannot get an ED visa from Vientiane.

maybe, they will issue a 7 day extension denied stamp to give her a week to get outta thailand BUT sometimes they don't. Only the immigraiton office will answer that question

One thing. She has to have the account in her name. If it's you making the account, it will be rejected.
