Can I extend my non-immigrant ED visa at Immigration instead of making a border run?

Hello,

I have a non-immigrant ED multiple entry Visa because I am studying at Chulalongkorn for one Semester. My 90 days are running out though so I have to extend it. I know that I can simply leave the country and come back to get another 90 days for free just like many of my fellow students did. I am on a tight Budget though so I would like to go to Immigration instead. Will I have to pay something at Immigration to receive another 90 days?

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a non-immigrant ED multiple entry visa for studying at Chulalongkorn University and is seeking options for extending their stay as their 90 days are expiring. They inquire about the possibility of extending their visa at Immigration rather than taking a border run due to budget constraints. Responses indicate that an extension can be obtained at Immigration for a fee of 1,900 THB, but it would require waiting for a whole day. Some users suggest that making a border run to Cambodia might be cheaper, but this option also incurs additional costs like the $30 visa fee and accommodation expenses.

Just bear in mind that with the Cambodia option you will also have to pay $30 visa fee to enter Cambodia for 1 night

I just saw this: From BKK - to Cambodian border 48 Thb. You have to stay 1 night in Poi Pet but rooms are there 500 Thb.

Depends on school costs if it is cheaper and it could take a big part of the day.

Best is to keep using the Visa, but with help and documents from the school you can apply for an Extension of Stay. Cost for Immigration is 1.900 Thb, cost for school is up to the school. If you decide to to this your visa get voided and you can get till 90 days Extension of Stay. Again making the border run is a better option.

That are the two options you have if you wish to stay longer, or activate a new 90 day period on your Visa or apply for Extension of Stay at Immigration.

My school told me i can either leave the country or go to Immigration to get another 90 days

When you came into the country you got a square stamp in your passport with the last date stamped in it that you are allowed to stay inside Thailand. That is how a visa works

So are you saying i am basically forced to leave the country?

It ends on the 10. November, that's when the first 90 days are over

When does your Admitted to Stay period ends? you don't check in, at the end of your Admitted to Stay period you leave Thailand, stamp in/out other country and come back for a new 90 day period.
