TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of applying for an ED visa directly in Thailand before their departure on October 8th. Community responses indicate that it is unlikely they will have enough time to secure an ED visa, as the process typically requires enrollment in a school, processing time by the Ministry of Education, and immigration review, which can take several weeks. Some recommend considering a border bounce to re-enter Thailand with a new visa exempt entry instead. It is advised to confirm with the school for any specific guidance and to avoid flying into Thailand due to previous immigration questioning.

I think Tobias has enough answers and ideas of what they need to do

this is just turning in to a train wreck.

You DO NOT have time to get an ED visa inside the country on the stamp you're on.

You say you only used one of the two free entries by land this year so you can either have a service bounce you out and back

OR

You could GO to a thai consulate in a nearby country and BUY a tourist visa and then enter by LAND to get in and save that one free land entry you still have..

even if you got a tourist visa at a thai consulate, you still run a HIGH risk of getting denied entry 😮 That's because a tourist visa doesn't guarantee you get IN to thailand, only that IF they let you in you get stamped in for 60 days

Which begs the question WHAT did the school you're thinking of enrolling in tell you? 😮

As a rule you enroll, pay the tuition, the school applies for paperwork from the Ministry of Education, that takes any where from 2 to 6 weeks, THEN you can take that to the immigration office inside the country and apply for the 90 day ED Visa for 2000baht. That application goes under review for 2 weeks and then you go back to get the Non-ED visa and a new 90 day stamp inked in

SO if you actually have to leave on the 8th of Oct (which is 18 days from now) I'd say nope you can't get an ED visa inside the country.

BUT

again, TALK TO THE SCHOOL YOU'RE ENROLLING IN.. 🙂 they will know

sorry but we do not allow any discussion of Thai Visa Agents on this forum.

Have you already done 2 land border entries into Thailand in 2023 ?

What is your passport nation?

And IF you already have had an Ed Visa in your recent history, it's unlikely that you will be able to get another one. There's an ongoing crackdown underway by Thai Immigration Officers on those who have Ed Visas. Due to the massive fraud discovered in the issue of those Visas.

then I suggest you ask a local experienced border run service company in your area where you live IF they can take you to do a BORDER BOUNCE, out and re-enter the same day.

That would get you a New Visa Exempt Entry of 30 days with one 30 days extension of stay at local Thai immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

DO NOT Fly into Thailand... PERIOD!

DO NOT TRY TO DO IT YOURSELF.

The border run service company knows what you need to do. Follow their advice.

As you are carrying a passport from Germany you are eligible for the Visa Exempt Entry into Thailand.

That's my problem with time. I just wanted to know whether I could apply for the ED visa from the authorities myself. because the school told me there wasn't enough time available. Now I also have the problem with 7 visas on arrival that they had already detained me the last time. My worry now is that if I fly to Kuala Lumpur and apply for a tourist visa for 90 days, I might not get it anymore

you cannot apply for the Ed Visa by yourself. The School where you will be attending classes must prepare documents for you to submit to the Thai Embassy or Consulate where they have recommended you apply for the Ed Visa.

frankly it's NOT likely that KL will grant you any Thai Visa with your recent history of staying in Thailand. Do NOT Fly into Thailand. As you already have been questioned by Thai Immigration Officers on arrival. IF you have not already done 2 land border bounce entries into Thailand THIS calendar year, that's the only safe option to LEAVE and re-enter Thailand.

What is your passport nation?

Presumably September 8th was a typing error. It's September 20th today. 🤔

Yes, the school said that I can apply for a tourist visa for 90 days abroad (Malaysia). I hope it works that easily. Unfortunately, I don't know what documents are required other than passport
Tod *********
did you GO to one of the three thai consulates in Malaysia and LOOK at the requirements and processing time for a tourist visa
@Tobias **********
?

You would be far better off going by LAND to the consulate in Penang or Kota Bharu and getting the tourist visa from them rather than flying to KL and then trying to fly back with a tourist visa <- You would almost surely be denied entry even WITH a tourist visa in your passport

I see you want to fly to KL, take a look at the website of the Thai Embassy in KL.

All the needed information is there, even a link to an appointment site to apply for a visa and a link to an appointment site to pick up the visa.
