Hi. Apologies if this has been discussed, I can’t find the answer by searching…
My son is here on a non-o dependents visa (my husband is British and working here, my son is also British and in school here).
We have recently moved here and going to immigration for the first time on Thursday to process my husbands work permit and our dependant visas.
My son’s passport will need to be renewed in March. Will he then need to process a new visa? Or can it be transferred?
My main question is whether he should get a single or multi entry re entry. We have no plans to leave Thailand before March, and if we do it will definitely not be more than once.
Thank you!
TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the visa process for their son, who is on a Non-O dependent visa while living in Thailand. With their son's passport due for renewal in March, they asked whether a new visa would need to be processed or if the existing visa could be transferred. A comment clarified that upon renewing the passport, the current visa can be transferred to the new passport through a process called transfer stamps. They also mentioned that the son can apply for a re-entry permit if travel is anticipated, as long as he returns before the visa's expiration.
