Hello all and I hope all of you are safe. I hold a Non B visa and work permit but both of them expires on 30th April. I’ve resigned my job, so there is no way I can renew it. At the same time I can’t fly out of Thailand on 30th as my flights have been cancelled to my next destination. As per rule I’ve got to know that I need a letter from my embassy to extend my stay. But I’m confused about few things and please help me to clear those points out

1- How many days prior of my visa expiry, I can apply for this emergency extension ?

2- If I apply emergency extension one or two weeks before my non b expiry, then the date of the emergency visa starts from 30th April ( my non b expiry date ) or the day I apply the emergency extension

3- Do I have to cancel my work permit and existing Non B extension before I apply for this emergency extension?

Please help me with the answer and thank you all.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking assistance regarding extending their Non-B visa and work permit, which are set to expire while they are unable to leave Thailand due to canceled flights. They have questions about the timing for applying for an emergency extension, the start date of the extension, and the process of canceling their existing permits before applying.

Hello my friend. Is your "next destination" your passport country? Even in such case, the embassy issues the letter? If the destination is a random country, don't they think go somewhere you can buy a ticket out if you deliberately don't want to go home?

hi

Nice to hear from you

Well I’m not intended to go back home

I was supposed fly some other country on 30th April, the day my visa expires. But now the situation went upside down. My flight ticket has been cancelled automatic and I couldn’t get the visa for new country as the embassy isn’t giving any visas now. So need to stuck in Thailand for a while

This is what I am understanding based on a similar situation.

1- that you need to ask the embassy of your country. Italy can apply 10days in advance

2- extension starts on the day you obtain it. I would go a day in advance to start everything in case of any issues

3- Yes. First cancel your work permit, then Non-b visa then apply for emergency extension

good point, those unable to travel due to covid-19 stamps seem to start the day you apply SO don't go until you have only a few days left on your current stamp.

So you cancel your work permit at the Ministry of Labor and you can do this in advance. And I guess your Admitted until stamp in your passport is 30 April 2020, you leave Thailand before that date.

If you can not arrange a flight out before 30 April you contact your Embassy and apply for the letter to support your application to stay longer in Thailand.

Okay, you have the big stamp from Immigration Extension of Stay is permitted up to 30 April 2020. Yes you need to cancel this on the last day of working
