Answer summary
The user is seeking guidance for their friend who wants to transition from a tourist visa to a student visa while facing a potential overstay. The comments suggest checking with the school for advice and considering paying for a visa extension if applicable. They also note the risk of not having the student visa approved if there's an overstay and mention that both tourist visas and visa exemption stamps can be extended for 30 days. It's recommended to avoid overstaying to prevent complications with immigration.

Pay for extension, if they have not used one this stay. If they have a receipt showing under consideration they can leave and re-enter a few days later by air before the date in their consideration
