TLDR : Answer Summary
When arriving in Thailand, it's quite rare for immigration officials to ask where you will be staying. If they do inquire, you can simply provide the address of the place where you'll be staying, such as your aunt's residence, rather than needing to show a rental contract or proof of a hotel booking. While some suggest booking a hotel for at least one night to be safe, many travelers report that they were not asked about their accommodation during their entry.

You do not need hotel. Just location of house where you gonna stay is okay. Don't forget to report tm.30 form once you arrive there
House owner require to report of foreigner stay as per law ka. (I have seen many house owners got arrested just by not reporting but the news are mostly in thai)
The only penalty I've heard of for not filing a TM30 is a fine of 1600B when the foreigner tries for an extension without having a TM30 registered. Arrested, really, I think not sorry?
fine the 'thai' house owner per one foreigner. It's different than foreigner not having TM 30 ka. House owner must follow the law of reporting stay of foreigner ka :) Most house owner has no knowledge in this.

Doubt they'll ask you. But just an address should do, if they did ask.

Immigration from where?
At the airport they'll only ask you this if they want to deny you entry. It's very rare.
They also won't ask this if you're applying for a tourist extension.
