I visit Thailand 2-3 times a year, Always on the 30 day visa exempt. I have never been asked for anything at immigration, i Always make sure i have the 40,000 BHT in hard currency, an outward ticket, but never any pre booked accomodation. If im visiting for say 3 weeks, how can i pre book accomodation as i rarely know how long or where im staying?. IE i might stay 2 nights in Bangkok or maybe longer before travelling in Thailand. I am British passport holder.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A British passport holder visiting Thailand on a 30-day visa exempt status is concerned about not having pre-booked accommodation. Many commenters suggest that it's sufficient to book just the first few nights of stay, or even to provide an address of a friend or relative instead. It's generally accepted that proving accommodation for the entire duration of stay is not strictly necessary, as long as you have sufficient funds (around 20,000-40,000 THB) and an outward ticket. Some users report experiences of not being questioned at immigration regarding accommodations or cash.

I just came through a couple months ago and they didn't ask me for anything and I had visa on demand. When you fill out your TM6, they don't ask to see your booking registration. The hotel automatically will fill out a TM30 when you stay there. I live here now. I deal with immigration all the time. Actually, I am going today!

Visa on demand does not exist, it is called Visa Exempt, 30 days + extendable 30 more days.

It is when you do not get a visa before you go. You walk into the country with your passport and tell them you are staying for under 30 days. Then you can extend once for 60 days. You have to check with your country. Some countries are barred. I have the magical American passport. If you have like an Iranian passport, I am sure that won't apply.

I always pre book a hotel for the first couple days and the last night or 2.

2 nights in Bangkok will work and you only need 20,000 baht or the equivalent in another currency

As Garrett said , you dont need bookings for every night, just first stay. You can also give adress and contact # of person you are staying with eg friend, partner.

Some places allow you to book, not pay, cancel. Can do that print it out. Also I understand sometimes they only care to see you have some place to stay for a few days. You may not need accommodation for the entire time.

If you're only here for 3 weeks don't worry about it.

I’ve just been for a month in December and put on the immigration form the very last hotel that I had pre booked and no questions asked, and that hotel was 4 weeks into my trip,. Always done the same thing, also walk in with no Thai money and about £40 cash,.never been asked for proof of funds,. I always go to first atm outside in arrivals and get

baht to get me going,.
