If my friend wants to stay at my residence when he comes as a tourist, what proof might he have to show immigration, just in case they ask?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When a foreigner stays at a residence in Thailand, the landlord or residence owner is generally required to file a TM30 form with immigration within 24 hours. However, this requirement may vary by location; in Bangkok, it is often overlooked. If your friend does not plan to visit an immigration office, it is likely that filing the TM30 form is unnecessary. Essentially, no formal proof is needed, but it is advisable for your friend to have your address written down in case immigration inquires.

The rule is really that the landlord or owner of the residence must file a TM.30 form within 24 hours of a foreigner staying. With that being said if you're in Bangkok it won't matter if you don't do it because they don't care if you file that form or not.

Now some immigration offices are hella rabid on that form being done, BUT I'd say if your friend is not going to go to the immigration office for anything while they're here, you don't need to file the form.
