Dec 18, 2024
Hi. Once your DTV visa is approved. Is there anything you should know or think about besides:

1. Don’t stay longer than 180 days without extending

2. Do 90 day reports

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
After your DTV visa is approved, it is crucial to remember a few key points: ensure you do not stay longer than 180 days without extending your visa and complete 90-day reporting as required. In addition to these points, make sure to comply with local regulations regarding income taxes if you remain beyond the initial 180 days. Members of the community also suggest enjoying life in Thailand and being cautious about what you drink.

Waiting for the other shoe to drop, for folks that go past 180 days. You better be prepared to file Thai income taxes.

Taxes are lower here than in Scandinavia and many other modern western countries. So being a tax resident and paying taxes in Thailand is beneficial.

I'd rather try it here than in Europe. And for the tax, there are things to know... inquire you will see. 😉

if I plan to exit the country every 2-3 weeks or so, never staying in Thailand for more than 90 days in a row, do I need to do a 90 day report?

its not new. every foreigner must report every 90 days in thailand. its just going to immigration with your passport. easy process. longterm visa holders can do it online but with the DTV you will have to go in person.

this is not true! Your first visit has to be in person or by mail, after that you have the option to do online.

90 days in person… 180 days in person as you either extend or re-enter… only in case you extended your dtv you will be able to do the 270 day online. the 360 day will be another re-entry. so in most cases you will have to do it in person. after re-entry you probably have to go in person again after 450 days. repeat…

ah I see. Thank you. I read I have to do this 15 days before or 7 days after the 90 days. But I leave Thailand exactly on the 90th day. Do I have to do it?

You have to go into an immigration office? Can it be done online? Does it have to be exactly at 90 days give or take a few days but what about a week or two earlier?

first time FROM each entry into Thailand, done in person at your local Thai Immigration office.

with a New TM30 each time you leave and return to Thailand

Needed for submitting the 90 days report with the re entry stamp where your new 90 days will be calculated based on it 🥰🙏

ask your local Thai Immigration office for their requirements for the TM30 when you leave Thailand and reenter Thailand and returning to the same TM30 address registration on file

yes you can return and stay as you are on the same address

But a fresh one will be needed

If you never leave ( we have a UK client never left Thailand) since he come 😄

He never change or update his TM30 the same since yearssssssssss 😅

The reason for my saying ASK your local Thai Immigration office for their requirements for the filing a New TM30 address registration when you depart and reenter Thailand, returning to the same address on file.

NOT all offices have the same filing requirements.

No you don't have to go to an office, you can do it by mail. Send in the form 14 days before the due date. Enclose a SAE and they'll send back the notification

yes, you have to go to an immigration office to do the first 90 days report every time after entering the country. People on longterm visas can do theirs online from the 2nd one, but with a DTV you will either leave the country within 180 days or go to an immigration office anyway for extension.

If you do an extension I guess the 3rd one can be made online (or am I thinking wrong? 🤔)...

you can do it 14 days earlier than the due date

Or as max as 7 days after the due date without a fine

If you cross the 7 days

Then you are subject to be fined.

Faire des rapports de 90 jours ?

C'est n'est pas nécessaire si tu as toujours le même tm30. Si ?

I'm not French! I said: do I report every 90 days, is it necessary if the TM30 remains the same?
