What should I know about using eDeparture gates in Thailand with a non-O visa?

Just a heads up,

Upon leaving BKK recently on a non O visa with a re-entry stamp. I was directed away from the e gates to an immigration officer by staff, after showing her the stamp.

Although I intended to go that route anyway, I have no idea if it makes any difference just wanted to share it.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion highlights the author's experience with using eDeparture gates upon exiting Thailand while holding a non-O visa with a re-entry stamp. Other users confirm that there are typically no issues with using the eDeparture gates if the passport successfully scans and captures a photo, pointing out that a hard departure stamp is not necessary for re-entry. Some confusion arises regarding why the author was directed to an immigration officer rather than being allowed to use the eDeparture gates directly.

There's no issue at all using the eDeparture gates, if your passport 'passes' the scan when you put it on the reader at the gate (and then they take your photo) your exit will be tracked.

There's no problem comin' back in without a hard departure stamp after using the eDeparture gate (stampless exit) either..

Thanx for the post.

Had you already tried to 'self scan' yourself out at the eDeparture gate and it wouldn't accept it or did you just show the officer the extension/rentry stamps before you even tried?

There's no issue at all leaving thru the eDeparture gates if your passport scans and it takes your photo.

I honestly don't know why they'd motion you to go to the hard stamp desks.
