TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about not having an exit stamp in their passport after leaving Thailand through an automatic gate. Responses in the comments indicate that the exit is recorded electronically and that it is unlikely to cause issues when re-entering Thailand, as immigration authorities are aware of the automatic system. However, individual immigration officers may have discretion.

It's recorded electronicly

I have exited 3 times now through the automatic gate and had no issues returning. The system seems to work well

I doubt it's relevant but I do have a new British passport now. Renewed in February this year.

Stuart.

I'm a bit confused by all of this, and would appreciate your take on it.

I've visited Thailand on four occasions in 2024,after my initial arrival on June 2nd 2024. I got stamped in for 3O days as was the rule then. But since then using a visa exemption stamp,I received 60 days at Jomtien Immigration early July, did border runs to Cambodia late August, late October, and late December. Receiving 60 days on each occasion. I departed Thailand on the 10th February this year.

I wish to return within the next two weeks, using a visa exemption again, and have been in contact with TVS; whom advise I'm likely to be questioned by Immigration, but being 66 and intending to apply for a retirement visa soonest, they suggest I should be good to enter.

Would appreciate your advice please.

Thanks

They won't care that you intend on applying for a retirement visa. But why don't you just apply for the retirement visa from your Thai embassy online and then not have to worry about any of that?

Regardless, if you want to enter, then you are almost guaranteed to be questioned. Have the 3 proofs with you to make it so they cannot easily deny entry.

1) Proof of funds (20,000 baht or equivalent in another major currency IN CASH ONLY)

2) Proof of onward travel (a ticket out of Thailand within 60 days of your arrival, whether you intend to use it or not)

3) Proof of lodging (at least a few nights hotel reservation)

If you scanned your passport on your way out, it is registered on the system that you left the country with that passport. So, no problem.

not until you apply for some contries that want a travel history.

No, it’s electronic exit and you’re registered in the system and two weeks last year and 2 days this year shouldn’t be any issue.

There won’t be a problem about not having an exit stamp as they are aware of the “automatic gate” system.

No one can say if you’d have an issue re-entering Thailand as that’s up to the individual immigration officer but it’s highly unlikely that they’d have any issue with those dates.

They’re on the look out for repeat entries after an extension which could mean you’re trying to stay in Thailand without a correct visa.

actually Stu my wife comes to the United States every year for four months and she’s been doing that for the last four years and she does not have one stamp for entering or exiting the United States in her passport. It’s all on the computer and if she ever wants a record of it there’s a form called the I 94. I always print a copy of it and send it to her before she comes in case there’s any questions about the validity of her visa.
