Embassies have started to call people in for an interview in person. Recently happened with friends that applied for the DTV in Frankfurt, Germany. After 3-4 weeks in the process. No further documents asked in the eVisa portal. So be careful when you apply from abroad. š

TLDR : Answer Summary
There have been reports of embassies conducting in-person interviews for the Thai DTV visa application process, as evidenced by a recent experience of applicants in Frankfurt, Germany. This change from online to in-person interviews follows increased scrutiny of visa applicants, likely in response to abuse of visa requirements. Discussions also highlight mixed experiences regarding these procedures and the implications for applicants, such as needing to travel long distances for interviews.
Applied for e visa in Sri Lanka but had to attend an interview in Colombo and print off all the documents submitted to hand to them but it was quite straightforward more of a formality just checking that I donāt work for a Thai company and reminding me only remote work is allowed with this visa nothing to worry about

It seems moreover they are closing in on the requirements and ensuring they are respected. We have seen reports from people abusing the requirements and trying ways around things to gain the DTV. Of course the more people try, the more stringent the questions and requirements become. This is basic logic that any government would apply. Don't be surprised. Its not random, it's continual improvement to counter the continual abuse.
just wait for the checks that will happen to all those soft power activities that people used for the DTV. at some point they will want to see a new proof.
Hi Katrin.

Kinda idiotic when the whole visa process for tourism was done in person before and they moved it online, and now moving it back to in person.
Was it an actual interview? What was the exact request/email, and how was the experience?
just a mail from the eVisa system that says āyour visa interview dateā. so the status of the application was changed to interview required and then you get this mail. there is no feedback on the experience as the date is in the future. ;)

Anonymous participant so they just pick a date and presume you to be available? when is it?

How long time you have to go there for your appointment? For me for example if I would apply in Germany I have to apply at the embassy in Frankfurt which is still more than 2 hours from my homeā¦?!
That means I should have at least one week for scheduling an appointmentā¦
the system makes no sense. That is why it is so difficult to comply with. That you should prove that you are not in Thailand is one thing but having to prove, for nomads, that they are effectively sedentary and are not moving is incoherent and borderline s.
especially when you consider the 3-4 weeks of processing time or even longer in other places.

Did those friends stay in Germany after submitting and making payment for their DTV Thai EāVisa application at the Thai Consulate in Frankfurt, or, at least in Europe throughout the processing time?
It seems they are doing random checks in some places. In others like Taiwan they are asking people to go to Immigration to get a certificate that they are there.
